Where do you guys hang out if you don't mind my asking?

Every try Pamplona, Biergarten, LaFonda, Tap Room, Corner Bar? That seems to fit what you're looking for.

Yep- bread and circus, st street inn, Pamplona, biergarten, tap room, parish, pops.. I think CB and lafondas are a little lame but the only place our friends like to go when they have a babysitter. Can't wait for Central pizza & rock and bowl to open. We just go to those same places week end and week out. I need a little more variety in my life. I know that I am just a little spoiled to the Nola food and bar scene..

from what i understood is his buying of the filling station put too much on them to pay and they went bankrupt.

unfortunately H&B was pretty good. they had fried pickle spears, can't find them anywhere else!

Well, yeah but our city can only handle so many places I like all of those places you listed. Lafondas is not amazing, but it's just a typical Lafayette place with awesome margaritas.

Have you ever gone out to Arnauldville to the Bayou Teche Brewery? Atmosphere is a lot better than Parish even if the beer isn't as good. It's fun on a weekend when they cook something and have a band play.

What about the Broaddus Burger now that it's moved to Kaliste Saloom?

Social? Pour? Tim and Tias?

Yeah I don't think he realized how not up to code the building was and when he wanted to make all sorts of renovations, the bill became astronomical.

Social and pour are ok. I think social tries too hard to be cool. Pour's bar is nice- hate their menu/ food. We ordered Broaddus to go- burger was meh. Need to go back and check out the atmosphere. I guess I am sort of a snob when it comes to restaurants/ bars... I guess I have high standards?

No, haven't been to arnaudville; it's a little outside our range of places to go (due to the drive). We do ride out to Abbeville and enjoy Dupuys & Kelvins occasionally- only because we have a DD and someplace to stay, haha.

Will check out Tim & Tias. It was my understanding they were only open to the public sometimes? Thought it was a private bar.

Bigger sin is that he let his liquor license expire.

There are some very specific laws and stipulations regarding this, with notable grandfathered in exceptions.

The churches didn't want a bar within "x" number of feet from the church (I forget the number).

Fillin station is directly across the street from the giant FIrst Baptist Church. They don't compete for parking lot spots, due to when they are most busy, but the church was able to keep new bars at bay with the law. Now that Fillin Station let their license lapse, that location is now a dead zone.

Is lafondas still happening on Thursday nights like it was 15 years ago?

Yeah, no offense but it kind of seems like you're trying to be unhappy.

I don't know Tim and Tia's schedule but I do know they have happy hour on some days

Right.

Their has been a moratorium on new liqour licenses, which has been challenged lately. but with variances to the code, most obviously by the new Rock n Bowl.

Yeah... Ive always been a fan of H&B, although it seems like the O&G downturn has directly affected their business in Broussard especially during lunch time when it used to always be packed. His buying of the filling station was right around the time that things started going south in the oilfield. May just be a bad set of circumstances.

The only bar I ever went to in Laffy was Graham Central Station and my goodness that was the place to go for a slumpbuster.

It does sound like your standards are a little high. I agree with you though on Pour. Their food is menu/food is awful. They’ve changed the menu I don’t know how many times and it is always awful.

No offense taken! Although, it's quite the opposite!! I love my job, house, and being so close to family & friends. I love Lafayette. I just would love the Lafayette social scene to be a tad more Nola in terms of options. But, if the locals/ young professionals are not supporting it, they will never survive!

Lafayette has fantastic bar/restaurants options that don't seem to get as much love as they should because a lot of people are stuck in their ways- I guess.
