Or, had the cashier come out and offer advice on your problem like she was a mechanic?

Never. That's what mechanics are for.

I had a battery for my truck tested and subsequently replaced by a dude in OReillys parking lot before.

I felt no shame whatsoever.

I went in to buy a battery for my truck and the dude that sold it to me came out and did the replacement in the parking lot, I did not request this service however I gladly let him do it.

Does that count?

To be honest, I have never been in an Advanced Auto Parts parking lot.... not that there is anything wrong with that.

Unless you fixing your car like its a mechanics stall.

at least half a dozen times. Sometimes, they've been helpful. A lot of the dudes who work there are car guys. They're no mechanics, but they tend to know the basic stuff.

I prepared my Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. Then put ten quarts of Prestone anti-freeze. No, make that Quaker State all in an Autozone parking lot.

I see this a lot. People go to Autozone because their light is on to get the free scan. The code comes back something like shift solenoid b circuit fault so Autozone sells them a solenoid, fluid, gasket and filter. Nevermind that the fricker doesnt even have reverse and needs to be rebuilt.
