Australia hasn’t had a fatal mass shooting since 96
quote:

The country made sweeping gun control measures after a man killed 35 people with a semi-automatic weapon in a popular tourist area of Port Arthur, in Tasmania. Weeks after the April 1996 tragedy, the country and its states began banning rapid-fire guns to tamp down on mass shootings and then offered to buy the prohibited firearms.

I used to hunt and still have a 30-30 and 270 rifle. I still have a 22 pistol with a 15 clip I keep at the house for protection and dog walks for the next pit bull that attacks me and my pups. So I believe we have the right to bear arms but I would be fine with not being able to have a rapid fire gun. Some type of gun control is imminent I believe this would be a possible start to a solution.
May your Friday be a good one

How prevalent a problem was it there before these measures?

No. We need more guns, not less.

Ok, so let's say you ban all weapons and everyone gives up their guns in America, how do you stop the illegal guns from entering the southern border?

Australia is also way the frick away from everybody else. They don’t have a near lawless border in play. Which makes the situation here that much more tricky.

if the right actually gave a shite about mass shootings, that could work. but they don't, and libs are to spineless to go against ammosexuals.

so we'll just continue having mass shootings while the left gripes about gun laws and the right says 'hey man its part of freedom'

Australia also defines "mass shooting" differently than we do. 5 people have to die for it to be considered a mass shooting, not including the attacker.

In the US, it only has to be 4 people injured in the shooting to be considered a mass shooting.
