Yep, this is an easy way to get a player a car. A dealership wanting to provide a player a car can easily manipulate the rules without doing anything wrong.
Never mind that if you happen to be an AU alum or happen to just be an intramural star that the rate of being denied based on your credit/income just, by chance, happens to be 100%. You were still eligible... just rejected for "other reasons".

Could be. Funny how UGA fans and boosters joke about it. Sometimes tongue in cheek, but many say one of the Kirby hiring stipulations was that he bring along his "bagman". I've heard it directly from their mouths. "Hell, I don't care if he cheats. I just wanna win. And that's what we're doing." I have a friend in grad school in Athens who says he's already seeing the improvement of player transportation.

Just a few years ago, Yahoo Sports released a well-documented story that had a lot of smoke in it regarding the University of Alabama compensating players monetarily. So far, I haven't heard one peep from the NCAA or the SEC wanting to open an investigation or at least taking a look at it. Other schools may do it, but Alabama gets away with a lot, and has since the days of Bear Bryant.

My favorite story I ever heard was from a guy I met at a sales conference (so take it with a grain of salt as to it's validity). He went to high school with Armegis Spearman. Some big money booster at Tennessee told him we would buy him a brand new car if he went to Tennessee. So he agreed to sign with Tenn if he could have the car before NSD, Armegis drove that brand new car to Oxford and signed with Ole Miss. When asked if he was worried about pissing the booster off Armegis said "Who's he gonna call"?

Well, to be fair, there aren’t any NCAA BB teams in Australia. So to play NCAA ball for one season to solidify him for the pros he was coming to some place in America no matter what. The AL OB could have stayed at home and still played in the NCAA.
