Gerrymandering has been in practice for generations

And now a judge in NC doesn't like Rs drawing districts so he ruled that they have to be redrawn.
Just like the 9th Circus saying a Democrat EO supersedes a Republican EO, all of a sudden gerrymandering is bad. We all know of the Den districts that are like 3 houses wide in some areas, but Rs are evil for drawing favorable districts.
I say we go to square districts.

Come on, everyone knows that the Republican strategy was to control as many state legislatures as possible at the 2000 and 2010 census to redraw districts to favor Republicans. This has been talked about for about 15 years. Don't act like this is a new idea you've never heard of.

Which party do you think would more oppose redrawing ALL districts into square districts?

Totally agree --> go to top-left to bottom-right, we read this way and we can redistrict this way.

Cleo was nicknamed Zorro at one point when they created the 4th district for him.

What is hardly ever mentioned is that Republicans undid the gerrymandering of white southern Democrats that disenfranchised blacks. So while Repubs got an advantage, so did black democrats

Between 1971 and 2009, the percentage of African-American state legislators more than quadrupled, from 2 to 9 percent. But much of that growth came early. The share of African-American state legislators has increased by only a single percentage point since 1999

With square districts we'd have never been able to enjoy "go gata."

Holy cow. That's one single actual district?

I'm OK with pure math and geography.
This guy developed a computer algorithm that draws districts with zero politics involved.

I personally think we should do away with districts all together and give everybody X votes that they can use.
For example: Louisiana has 6 districts. So everyone would get 6 votes. They can vote for one person 6 times or for 6 different people 1 time or any combination there of.

And the congressional black caucus would CEASE to exist were it not for gerrymandering demanded by the left.
What the left wants.........which is pure insanity......is to be allowed to draw black only districts...........and THEN...........split the others without regard to politics.
Well no fricking shite liberals like that stupidity.

California districts without looking at any political data. However, one of their criteria is to not separate groups of interest. This could mean ethnic communities, but could also mean "we are a group of horse farmers"
They are said to have some of the best drawn districts even though the state as a whole leans heavily towards the democrats.
(I've been listening to the Gerrymandering Project from 538 the past few weeks. It is really interesting and a good listen on the topic)

Well this type of gerrymandering is enforced by federal law. However, the implantation thereof is interesting.
You see the Republicans want to put the majority of minority voters in to one district because it takes democrats out of other districts.
The Democrats only want the districts to be a plurality because it allows them to win those districts and have more of an influence in other districts.

yep but muh republicans cant be trusted to change how they are drawn
"just about" all voting district redrawings by republicans go back to what most see as "normal" shaped divisions based on geography and not skin color.
like everything else they do, liberal emotional cries of unfairness by republicans cant stand up to the light being shined on the simple undeniable facts even though they still always choose to deny reality anyway.

That's my point.
Dems want a subset of the districts RIGGED in their favor.........then rest of the districts drawn as fairly as possible.
ROFLMAO.
Yeah. frick them.

Yes, that was the 4th district circa 1992.
It got tossed because no one with a straight face could explain why a district needed to stretch from Shreveport to Monroe to Baton Rouge other than skin color,
