Amazing that Mel Watt's 12th district passed constitutional muster. The Republicans re-drew it to at least make it look like something other than a snake. The way it was for decades was laughable.

Come on, everyone knows that the Republican strategy was to control as many state legislatures as possible at the 2000 and 2010 census to redraw districts to favor Republicans. This has been talked about for about 15 years. Don't act like this is a new idea you've never heard of.
Do you know hat makes that strategy work?
THE PEOPLE went to the polls and voted for republicans in state elections.
Believe it or not the democrats had the same strategy except the PEOPLE rejected them
Amazing isn't it!

I thought that was dimocratix strategy, too, until they frittered away all those seats by passing Obamacare against the wishes of the American people.

Re: "This guy developed a computer algorithm that draws districts with zero politics involved".
You can't do that one in Louisiana due to the 4 times-extended and amended Section 5 of the Voting Rights Act and Department of Justice review of it.
Under Federal laws and regs, due to our history, in our state you MUST have at least ONE majority-minority district (used to be two before we began hemorrhaging representation; thus the old Cleo Fields district that was gerrymandered all over the state).
Right now, the one majority-minority district has to run from Baton Rouge to New Orleans to get a black majority. That map doesn't look like it would cut Dept. of Justice review.

And the fricking democrats do exactly the same thing every chance they get
They just happened to jam through that piece of shite Obamacare so the lost several hundred seats in 2010
Guess they should have thought that through
They are imbeciles who would not be competitive without their media stranglehold
