Why do you like small town life?

I lived in a really small town in SW PA for the last 2 years i was there.

I could ride my arctic cat to the local bars 10 miles away.

But im a trashy redneck at heart

It doesn't have to be a metropolis. I loved Baton Rouge. I wish I could live in Dallas, Atlanta, Jackson,etc.

I prefer a small City.

I would hate to be one of those people who live in small town USA and never know anything outside of the city limits. at the same time I hate the crime, traffic, and density of big cities.

I like living where I do now. We have some amenities of a big city but not all the big city problems. And it's big enough to not be Bridgeport, AL.

That and we are about 2 hours from any of 5 big cities.

My wife and I have lived in the ATL metro area for about a decade now and we’d like to like somewhere smaller.

The traffic issues have gotten old. Also, being somewhere where this is “a lot to do” means that everyone fills their lives with so much busyness. No one has time to just slow down and call or check on a friend, or have someone over for lunch (myself included). Just doesn’t feel like community.

Depends on the small town. Small towns in Louisiana are typically filled with fat people, religious nuts, litter, and dead dogs that people were too lazy to either keep in the house or provide suitable living for. Probably got some culcha in there too.

Small towns in New England are filled with upper/middle class folks who want to promote fiscal responsibility and send their kids to good schools.

The right kind of small town can be great. I’m currently in Worcester, Massachusetts. City is abou the size of Lafayette but has about 10 universities. Parks everywhere. No litter. Almost no culcha. Indoor soccer, football, sports facilities, hiking/skiing/backpacking within a half hour drive. Higher cost of living but better than any city in Louisiana and probably cheaper than Nola

I grew up in Baton Rouge in the 80's and 90's, so of course we are not talking about Gotham City, but it isn't Mayberry, either. When I moved overseas, I lived in a city of 4 million people. It was fun and exciting at first, but after a couple of years it became a drag. When my job relocated to a small town about three hours south of the city, I was more than happy to move. Now, this town had a population of 35,000 but compared to where I was living it was a small town. When I moved back to the U.S., I moved to what is technically a small town, but it fast becoming just a suburb of Covington/Mandeville. Still, it is a lot better than having to live in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. I enjoy living in the smaller places because I enjoy my space. In Sydney it seemed like your neighbors were living on top of you and a 20x30 foot backyard was considered "big."

I prefer the mid-sized town like Birmingham. Big enough to have plenty of job opportunities, but small enough to avoid most of the major issues of a larger city.

Small town life seems miserable to me.

Everyone has their own preferences though. Nothing wrong with that.

I moved from BR to a small town outside of Nashville. We bought some semi-cleared land that is surrounded by more hunting land and have no neighbors. I travel so all I have to do is make it to the airport.

I love the small town vibe, but we’re not immersed in it. There are also a lot of other transplants around here from all over the country, so it’s a mix of cultures. I would never live in a large city again. Before I got dogs, I could hunt deer and turkey from my front porch.

I may one day choose to live in a small town, but it won't be some shite hole in this state if I do. Small town life has it's positives, but not when it's 90% trashy people.
