...except for the Troy thing.

Seriously, I am thrilled at what this team has accomplished this year. They have mettle and they get it directly from the head coach and coaching staff. I am SICK of seeing fans with buyers remorse on O!!! Until he runs this program in the dirt, shut up nega tigers!!!! I will be the first to say that I wanted Fisher or Patterson, but O isn’t bad and I’m very, VERY proud of him this year for the coaching job he’s done. The man LOVES LSU and bleeds purple and gold, and I love him for it. We only lost 3 games this year, for a first-year coach tasked with conducting an offensive culture change here. He’s still growing as an HC and I think it’ll just get better. I have faith in O until I don’t. A LOT of you Negas never gave him a chance and now you’re melting bc he actually had a successful year considering what adversity he had to fight through. GIVE THE MAN A BREAK and let’s give him a fair shake and see what he can do long-term!!!

I agree with this. The team has more fight in them when things go bad.

No you won't. You're maybe the four thousandth.

Who gives a shite? Saban didn't love LSU, and doesn't love Bama, but he's the best.

Not quite as good as Miles' first year.

He DID NOT have a successful year. He had the kind of year Miles was having. Three of Miles' last four years were 3-loss years, INCLUDING the bowl game.

GIVE THE MAN A BREAK

NO! No breaks. He was hired to maintain continuity and win immediately. That is the standard to which he should be held.

If O beats Notre Dame then we can tolerate this shitty non-competitive year, in which we were never in the championship discussion. But he better do better next year.

This is a simple issue. You have the people that support him for being one of them versus the others who are skeptical of his coaching abilities.

Each side betting on the prospects of his long term success or failure. Appeals such as the one contained in this thread have no sway.

30 point prison rape from State.
HOMECOMING loss to Troy.
Double digit loss to Alabama.
2 wins against winning records.
Another 3 loss year when LSU was favored in every game but 1 vs a historically bad schedule.
19 starters with 3 or more years in the program.
Edward Orgeron has been in the program how long now?
Conflict with OC that required a reminder of his limitations from the AD.
His own players said ( Inside LSU football the week before A&M) that he wasn’t holding players accountable and they had to take it upon themselves.
Current recruiting class below usual LSU standards.

Glad you’re excited about such a great year.

Miles was fired because the program had seemingly plateaued and LSU wanted to take the next step forward and get back to being a championship caliber program again. Fair or not, O was tasked with moving the program forward, not keeping it status quo. 9-3 (6-2) in a weak SEC and a loss to Troy is not moving the program forward. Though, to be fair, it certainly isn't moving the program backwards either, which is what many were afraid of when O was named the permanent HC.

Whether this season was "successful" or not is relative. From most objective measures it is a "successful" season. However, can you say it is a success relative to the reason why you made a coaching change? LSU still finished 3rd in the SEC West. They lost to Alabama for the 7th straight time. And they aren't going to the playoffs or even a NY6 bowl. So did they really "move forward" from the Miles era?

No one is calling for Ogeron to be fired and everyone is hopeful that he can take the next step. But IMO, what he did this season was maintain the baseline. Certainly not "bad" by any means. But not absolute evidence that he was the right choice to replace Miles. He'll get to show everyone next season if the program is moving forward, staying the same, or falling behind.

Why did it take him so long to coach here, then?

People act like he played 4 years here, or jumped on the first opportunity to coach here, or repped LsU in some way before he was on the payroll. He's never done anything to suggest he "bleeds P&G" before he was was hired out of unemployment a couple years ago to coach the DL. Everyone bleeds the color of the team that pays them, especially when they are trying to become the head coach.

Very damaging loss to Troy along with the pistol whipping by Miss St....I like O too, but that shite can't happen anymore. We have Bama at home next season. Time to nip that in the bud and win it.

Ton of LSU people didn't want O, so I'd hope the O and Alleva leash is pretty short. But I'd much prefer O prove the haters wrong.

He did ok this year. He even said it wasn't a really good season because he knows what the expectations are. Next season will tell all on if the hire was solid or not. If O can go 10-2 next year with that schedule and new QB then I think LSU will be just fine for quite a while.

well he admitted he had a say in the offense during the troy game. So there's that.

I get what you're saying, but you don't always have to wait until the program is in the dirt before you make a change.
