Start them out on a 50 at 6. You can govern them down to 5 mph and let them learn from there. Always make them wear a helmet and don’t let them let another kid ride with them.

Federal law is no one under 6 on a 50, 10 on a 90-110cc. Higher CC bikes are under 16

If your kid is properly trained, any age is fine. At the motocross track, there are kids 3-4 years old racing and 5-6 yr. old kids hitting 50 ft. jumps on real (i.e., 2-wheel) dirt-bikes that do 50+ mph. So handling a 4-wheeler shouldn’t be difficult for any kid that is properly trained.

I rode my 100 until I was 17 That 100 would carry me and my cousin anywhere we wanted to go. There was many of times we pick it up and dropped it over a fence and kept on going.

I'm 32 and last year I almost killed myself on one but for blind luck.
But growing up my parents refused to get me one.
Let that be a lesson.

When you feel that you would be okay with standing in an ER and being told that your child is dead or paralyzed because of something that you bought for him/her.

What kind of atv and size are we talking? What's the age of the kid?
Posted on 12/3/17 at 12:48 am to Bullseye
Never. I know of too may accidents with kids. No way I’d buy one for a kid if I loved the kid.

We had them growing up our whole lives...3-wheelers, Honda 300 4-wheelers, Yamaha 80 dirt bike, 125 cc, then finally the baddest of them all: 1988 Suzuki 250 2-stroke. Best times of our lives...don’t be a DadMom, get your kids some real fun, they’ll luv you forever.

What kind of idiot would let a minor drive an ATV or own a gun? Criminal

Never. Plus ATVs/dirtbikes/motocross are all trashy. Kids need better more productive hobbies.
