I read the Kids and ATV thread. Truly terrible accidents. So if you are going to buy one for your kid, what's the best age? How much training and instructions?

I don't know that there is a perfect age, as there are a lot of factors such as physical and psychological maturity of the child, the environment where he/she would ride, and how closely you will be able to supervise.

I’d say around the same age as you’d give a kid a gun.

In all seriousness, dont.

I doubt I'd buy my kid an ATV that was "his" until after he got his driver's license.

Thinking back of the frankly insane shite we used to do, it blows my mind none of us ended up paralyzed.

This. Don't be a dumbass. Your kid will either get killed or injured on one.

When you have a big place to ride it away from the highways and maturity to make good decisions. I got my first at 14 and did much stupid fun stuff on it.

But our hunting club was 10,000+acres and no
Blacktop Roads.

Somehow I (and majority of friends and family) managed to survive childhood without an ATV. Brayden will be fine without.

My dad bought me one when I was 8 but it was a 100 Yamaha champ. If you govern them and get a bike to fit the age then they are not as bad. It’s the idiots that send their 8 and 10 year olds out on their 700cc bikes that run a higher risk.
