I can’t believe that hotel tax passed. That agency got over $5 million last year, had over a $1 million left in cash, CEO making $300K a year with a huge retirement plan.
Sheesh.
Sheesh.

Low turnout. Probably meant the majority of people who actually showed up to vote who knew anything about it were those on the take.

Looks like the fear of Nola monopolizing the election was wrong

Set up
It failed once, they do a redo when no one goes to the polls. Typical La. BS, we see it all the time with tax elections.

I can't freakin stand how they always put these tax increase votes on special elections where they know the turnout will be low. People then go out and vote for their self interest and voila the tax is passed. Don't complain about rent being too high when the city is jacking up taxes every couple of months.

And SMH...has literally never presented a case in a courtroom. But BR gonna BR

Agreed. I voted against it.

Why wasn't a Republican candidate even running in NOLA?
Oh yeah I voted Schroeder but because of football I forgot to report it in the thread. Congratulations Mr. Treasurer-Elect

What rational person would run when there is no chance of winning. Eating time and money for no purpose is irrational.

Her commercials cracked me up. She all but said “vote for me, I’m Hillar’s sister”

yeah, you’re right. A rep will run one day, with a competitive chance. Same deal with BR, maybe on an anti crime or anti violence platform, and four more years of incompetence it will sadly have to come to that

I know right? I mean every day when those Judges are presenting their clients cases in court and stuff. Oh wait. That isn’t what Judges do, Judges hear cases being presented, handle procedure and make/write legal decisions based off the cases being presented to them. Which one of the candidates has 20 years experience doing that? SMH.
LITERALLY!

All in criminal court right? 20 years of routine B.S.
Let me know if she spent a day doing civil matters..I'll hang up and listen,,,

Wait what? First it was she doesn’t have any experience and now it’s “only criminal experience” and “routine stuff” like homicide trials?
I am having trouble keeping up with your argument. I think we should probably go with the guy who showed his integrity by throwing out random accusations of racism to try to close the gap in the last two weeks of the campaign when he saw he wasn’t going to win. I might have considered your arguments previously but the single most important aspect of a Judge is integrity and he showed he doesn’t have any.

Link?
She is no substantive experience. Being a judicial clerk is like being a graduate assistant on a college football team. It's great when you are young and just breaking into the field but signifies a problem if you are doing it for 20 years. BR elected the equivalent of a 55 year old clip board holder over an accomplished offensive coordinator last night. And all because she has the same name as the DA.
Perfect example of the problem with electing judges.
