Bryan Cranston believes public should be open to Harvey Weinstein, Kevin Spacey comebacks

quote:
“If they were to show us that they put the work in and were truly sorry and making amends and not defending their actions but asking for forgiveness then maybe down the road there is room for that. Maybe so. Then it would be up to us to determine, case by case, whether or not this person deserves a second chance,” Cranston told BBC.
“And I think in the face of it, we should let that open. We shouldn’t close it off and say, ‘To hell with him, rot, and go away from us for the rest of your life.’ Let’s not do that. Let’s be bigger than that. Let’s leave it open for the few who can make it through that gauntlet of trouble and who have reclaimed their life and their dignity and their respect for others. Maybe it’s possible.”

Weinstein needs to go away for good, but Spacey i could see continuing to act (and Louis CK even tho what he did isnt on the same level)

Weinstein brings little to the table IMHO.
Spacey et all can at least put up a high quality performance.
It will still take a minimum period of penance before they can even think about a comeback.
Look at Robert Downey Jr. he basically spent the 90s in and out of rehab. But he got clean, turned in good work, and got shot to the moon as a main face of the Marvel franchise along with having the high grossing Sherlock Holmes films.

They all deserve to burn in hell

A hero of mine, but Bryan, come the frick on. I know you’re not retarded given you lashed out against the media demonizing Trump supporters, but you just can’t say or think this and be seen as a rational human being.

Did Spacey rape anyone? Isn’t it just allegations of creepiness from 40 years ago?

Didn't Weinstein rape some folks? Not sure if just being sorry is going to cut it.
"Sorry for the rapes. Really...that's my bad."
I don't feel bad for either of them. They've both made enough money to live very well for the rest of their lives. None of these people are going to starve if they never work again.

Honestly, if Spacey hadn't tried to spin his shite by "coming out", I feel like the public would be a lot more forgiving, but he tried to spin it and therefor making himself look a lot worse and guilty. I was ready to defend Spacey because he just picked up a kid and threw him on a bed, creepy but I don't consider that "sexual assault". However, him spinning it makes me feel like more probably happened and confesses to true guilt.

All are allegations right now except for CK who admitted his guilt. CK also didn't commit a crime.
I'm not sure the legality of it but it sounds like Spacey and Weinstein if true committed at least assault. If found guilty and they serve time and/or whatever the court decides maybe.
Until then this is Hollywood where your whole career is built off of your talent and image. I doesn't matter how talented you are if your image is tarnish (see Mel Gibson).

I don't get why people have a hard time with the idea of redemption. Yes, they should face the consequences of what they did, but if it's a genuine and regretful turnaround, that's awesome. One lust scuzzy person on this planet.

I on the other hand think the public should be open to completely disregarding the opinions of Hollywood actors. These people live in a deep-seated liberal progressive world in which traditional values don't apply. They want the public to accept this kind of behavior as part of the transformation of America into their own image. In the future people like Weinstein and Spacey won't even feel the need to apologize for their actions; it will be considered normal behavior. If you don't like it, then you simply don't associate with them in spite of the fact that it will exclude you from the Hollywood club.

well I hope Cranston isn't the next to get accused. But unfortunately in my mind, the odds just went up.

What exactly is wrong with his statement?
It is very measured and rational.
What is the problem here?
