If you can't see they are completely different situations, I don't know what to tell you.

You know why? One is a religious person and the other is a piece of crap.

Obvious.

So. I've read a grand total of about 4 paragraphs.

1st thing that stands out.

2002 vs 1979.

Then, I get to this.

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, after years of unsubstantiated rumors about Louis C.K. masturbating in front of associates
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Oh. So this didn't fall from space like the other case? Interesting.

And then this.....

quote:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The stories told by the women raise sharp questions about the anecdotes that Louis C.K. tells in his own comedy. He rose to fame in part by appearing to be candid about his flaws and sexual hang-ups, discussing and miming masturbation extensively in his act — an exaggerated riff that some of the women feel may have served as a cover for real misconduct. He has all but invited comparison between his private life and his onscreen work, too: In “I Love You, Daddy,” which is scheduled to be released next week, a character pretends to masturbate at length in front of other people, and other characters appear to dismiss rumors of sexual predation.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So. OK.

Is there some reason we're pretending the two cases are similar other than you guys being scum?

Damn, someone should have paid some women to make shite up about Northam.

Seems to be the standard tactic these days.

Not a huge fan of Moore, but as we've seen with Weinstein etc, predators don't tend to just stop. They keep going. Therefore, unless there's more dirt coming, I'm calling this a 100% BS (& vile) smear that will backfire spectacularly on the Democrats, WaPo & Amazon (Bezos)

bullshite. We weigh "the evidence" - a single accusation (although it is a bad one) from - let's just be frank here - FORTY YEARS ago - that is only now coming to light in the middle of a (for Alabama, anyway) "competitive" senatorial election, versus 5 women now with allegations over the past 15 years against CK.

Now - am I inherently suspicious about these allegations? Certainly. Against CK and Moore (and Cosby - at least for a while) - and the benefit of the doubt is always with the accused.

With Weinstein, for example, he more or less conceded the conduct and literally dozens of people came forward. There seems to be a #metoo cloud around CK right now - but I'm willing to let all these facts mature.

Are the allegations credible? frick it, "could they remotely" have happened as alleged? Starting from there and moving forward.

But, to blindly accept the word of the accusers with no other corroborating evidence after years (decades) of silence is to hold every man hostage to a "he said, she said" situation if it is ever advantageous for someone to either make such allegations or bring them to light - well after the fact.

I was just saying that about Feldman the other day - when Haim still alive, even, it was a string along process (they were trying to make money) and, while I found them credible, holding all these potential people hostage when they could have just named names was unconscionable. So is this kind of delay between act and accusation.

Louis CK has been rumored to have been involved in this kind of activity for years. His standup comedy often involves "hypos" of him doing incredibly sick and depraved acts like raping an infant. No one is saying he's guilty, but it sounds plausible.

Roy Moore has been a prominent judge for 40 years. He has been a public figure in the limelight, but none of these allegations come out until he's running for the U.S. Senate after beating an establishment-picked candidate? The allegations are also nearly 40 years old but never mentioned to anyone until now? Never once has there been a rumor of any similar improprieties by the judge up until this point. It's safe to say that the claims seem a little suspect. It's not like it's uncommon for sex scandals to suddenly appear out of nowhere during a federal election and then disappear as soon as the election is over.

This is not a partisan issue, this is a believability one.

I'm going to wait until the facts come out before I condemn either person, but I think that Louis CK being guilty of what he may be accused of seems more believable than Roy Moore being guilty of sex with a 14 year-old girl in 1979.
