Honestly, there is something about Etling that has garnered alot, I mean alot, more defending than the other qbs that were similarly mediocre

I don't think so. I think most realize his limitations and deficiencies. The fact that he's not throwing INTs and he has made plays scrambling have given people something to hold on to. There were a lot of articles and reports from players and coaches about how much he improved post surgery. I was all on the Etling train early on this season, but I'm more cautiously optimistic now.

As for Harris, he's a home town kid and I have friends and family they know his family. He has a good father and is a good kid and I always hoped his QB talent would catch up with his physical talent, but it just never did. It's not a race thing. I wish he did work out. I really thought he was going to be the one to bring the crystal back to LSU.

People like his "grit" and leadership, but they despised the way JJ would look flustered even though Etling does the same thing with his WRs.

JJ would never take blame for anything. It was never his fault. There is a big difference between how they act on the field.

I'd take JJ over Elting in this offense any day.

Yep, Harris unfortunately couldn't cut it from an all-around QB standpoint. That being said, he flashed abilities and could make throws that LSU hasn't seen since Jamarcus. IIRC, Harris didn't play QB until later in his high school career, and I think his development was always a few steps behind his physical gifts.

Ehh, that's a little strong. Think about when a dual-threat QB topic comes up. There are always a few thinly-veiled racist comments from a few people.

Anyone that wants to bring race into these conversations is just stupid and should be ignored. They represent a very very small minority of complete dumbass's in this country.

There really wasn't, at all. I wasn't a big JJ fan and thought Lee offered more upside, but I can tell you unequivocally that the team liked Jefferson quite a bit and his on the field actions were no different than Etling.

If you're going to knock Jefferson, the off the field stuff is the place to do it.

I agree. 2009 Jefferson was a solid QB. 2010 was a head scratcher though.

True, and when he went to the QB camp in Arizona and he had the rave reviews I thought he was going to get it together in time. His velocity and quick release is excellent and he throws a good deep ball, but accuracy, touch, timing and pocket presence never developed.

I really thought he would excel at NC, but he has 1 TD vs 6 INTs and has completed 51% of his passes.

Yeah I watched a bit of the Virginia game and his accuracy is still bad. That's always been his biggest problem, and it remains that way at UNC. Some of the INTs are some bad breaks, but poor accuracy creates too many opportunities for bad breaks.

You are a moron if you truly believe that. And what's more, his stats prove you wrong.

Guys' as tuff as pig iron. Manages game well and low on the interceptions. Not a bad runner in a crunch, although I cringe everytime he takes off.

You have to excuse the DE Nuthuggers because clearly their brain has forgotten what a good quarterback looks like.

I mean they only have to look 62 miles east to see one every freaking sunday in the Fall.

So his pass to Russell Gage for the touchdown against Auburn and the fact that he is the 4th best QB in the SEC means nothing to you ???

Idiot LSU fans.

Geez, the chill frick out, dude. His whole post was basically praising the guy but I bet you only read that first sentence before you got all triggered. And the pass to Gage was a nice pass but it’s one play. Anthony Jennings threw a nice ball for a TD against Bama once. Danny’s a pretty good QB but to get all rustled if some calls him a *gasp* game manager (oh no!) is silly.

I want a guy like etling leading our team. He is mentally tough and doesn't make the big mistake. It is really hard to not cheer for him in my opinion.

Brandon has a lot of arm talent. I just accepted that what we were expecting of him didn't match his skill set. But I really thought he'd knock it out of the park at UNC.

Kind of amazing (and sad) that his best game as a Tiger was his first real playing time vs State in '14. Looked incredible.

DE won me over with those runs against Florida. He played with grit. Effort is all you can ask for....

I think Danny has played ok. And I'm probably one of the few that thinks we ought to be throwing the ball more. Lots more.

We're not out of the SEC race and if we're gonna play for the championship we're going to have to get it going more through the air. Most QB's miss some throws but if you can get them in a rhythm they pass pretty well.

I just don't see the jet sweeps getting it done vs Bama.

I wonder if the TAF can start financing Zoloft prescriptions to all the Rantards?

Not really. His best outings outside of making some big plays against UF were when he had no pressure on him. Coming off the bench in a loss and coming off the bench already up on an ooc opponent.

I did not think he would do well at UNC. He's been in accurate his entire career. Les Miles, Cam Cameron, Steve Ensminger, Ed Orgeron and Matt Canada all decided Eitling was the better option moving forward.
