He had no comment on the matter, but SI is reporting he's seriously considering it after being approached by numerous people.
I'm curious as to what you all think.

Please no. I'm not surprised he's claiming NUMEROUS people have contacted him. It's probably just his mom.

No clue if he has the aptitude. I'm guessing probably not and it has nothing to do with his soccer experience.

I'd rather Eric Wynalda, if we're gonna go the former American player route. But we need to actually pay the president a real salary or the field of candidates will be shallow.

Agreed with Wynalda. Landy could domestically be smart, having the most well known American as the face of soccer would help grow the game and increase visibility. But I don't see him Strong arming anyone in FIFA

Not a fan. Has he done anything since playing? I want someone who has some experience elsewhere. Managing, GMing a team, work in player development....something. I love Landycakes as much as the next guy but he isn't good for the position.

Hell of a player for us but if he's actually been approached by a critical mass of people that says terrifying things about our future.

I worry about his ability to handle the international negotiating part of the job

Considering USSF has a paid staff to handle the business side of things, Donovan can be a popular face for USSF that likely will push youth development

Nah, do not want... LD is too nice of a guy to be good at that job.

Wouldn't mind him being involved with youth development though.

Agreed. He's not a guy I want to be the USSF President. Not the right temperment. Wynalda would be even worse for me.

Are y'all serious about Wynalda? He's a douchenozzle from all accounts.

Well he'd be dealing with FIFA on a regular basis so he kind of has to be one.

Listen to the ESPNFC podcast with Max and Herc from this week, USMNT Blame Game. They blame Sunil but their recommendation isn't to get rid of him. What they said made a lot of sense to me.

Sunil is a freakin cancerous sock puppet. USSF president needs to be a paid position and they need a Bill Moos equivalent candidate. They also need to get rid of the election process and hire like any normal job.

I'd rather Eric Wynalda,

Pros:

It gets him off my TV
If the experiment fails, I get to loathe him even more.

Cons:

Somebody help me come up with something to balance this out.

I’m assuming these “people” are influential ones within us soccer and not just buddies, so assuming that it just tells me we don’t have a fricking clue how to run soccer in this country if they want Landon Donovan to be the head of it. No offense to Donovan.

He's proven nothing off the field.
