If Les is a better coach why hasn’t any other University hired him?
He's guaranteed 4 mil a year, he just spent a decade at LSU winning at the highest level, and he's close to retirement age. I imagine there's a short list of programs he'd take on, places that would have the resources equal to what he had, willing to pay what he'd ask, and that would be willing to take him with the knowledge that he'd probably retire after a couple of years.
He doesn't NEED a job, and like Spurrier, I'm not sure he WANTS one.

Agreed, just saying that with the right QB, they had a hell of a offense. Miles problem was he couldn't keep a competent QB
No they didn’t. It finished 35th in the country with a former starting NFL Qb, a starting NFL RB and 2 of the best receivers in the NFL along with 4 other starters that played in the NFL. 35th is not good with that talent and only scored 17 against Bama
Miles and Cam’s offense sucked for the same reason Michigan’s offense is bad now
That old school basic pro style offense is outdated and doesn’t work in today’s game.

he at least got interviews.
O couldn’t even get a phone call from Syracuse even though he was begging for one in the media.
Miles is better than O.
always was and always will be.
replacing Les with O was colossally stupid.

At the time that Alleva fired Les, Alleva thought he was getting Jimbo.
Would Alleva have fired Les, expecting to replace him with O? Obviously not since the job was offered to both Jimbo and Tom Herman before O.
The dynamic playing out right now is a direct result of (1) Alleva's failure to conduct a proper search for LSU's next HC, and (2) Alleva signed of on a Orgeron contract with outrageous buyout sums. A guy that applied for the Syracuse job and was turned down gets a $12 million buyout from LSU and in year 1, and an $8.5 million buyout in year 2??
If Alleva wasn't so inept to begin with, I'd almost think he approved the crazy buyout amounts as some type of hedge bet for his own job.

But just imagine if we'd paid big for 1-3 Jimbo or a soon-to-be 3-3 Herman (who was 8-3 in the goddamn MAC last year)...
We'd be mediocre-er without a possible exit for 5 years. Even if you hate O, Alleva, etc., it's easy to see that we got a better deal and could've been jammed up even worse had we not signed O.

Both of those coaches are superior to Orgeron in every way, and only a few random people in our fan base think otherwise. Put Orgeron in either of their shoes and see what the record would be. Also you need to google what the "MAC" is, you sound like an idiot.

Under no circumstances would we be worse with either of those two than we are with Orgeron.

WRONG..
Coach O sucks, but LES MILES sucked worse. Miles should have been fired years ago.
Get over the gaymance with MILES, HE SUUUUUUUCKED

If les was here we'd be even worse. Trying to run toss dive behind this weak line would be laughable. And don't tell me he wouldn't.
People don't want to hear it but with this o-line, we're lucky to have Canada's offense that can somewhat mask the weakness.

Jimbo has played a schedule many times tougher than we have so far. and being forced to do so with a true freshman QB that was never supposed to see the field this year.
he has 3 losses by a combined 31 points. all to teams ranked in top 20.
O lost to a fricking Sunbelt team with a 5th year senior QB.
O has 2 losses by a combined 33 points against unranked teams that ain’t been world beaters in their other games.
Herman is in a true rebuild of a cesspool program that didn’t even qualify for a bowl the two previous years.
O and Ponamsky changes their story from “Playoff Bound”to “rebuild” after getting raped by State. We’re supposed to believe that we suddenly have less talent than Troy.

actually, it’s not even possible to see how we got a better deal with O.
we’re paying him $3.5 and impossible to fire for a crap product that has become a joke in the national media.
in what world is being competitive with backups against an actual tough schedule somehow looks worse than getting dominated by unranked teams with far less talent than your own?

Compared to O, I'd take another decade of Les
Posted on 10/12/17 at 8:21 am to tduecen
The plan was to fire miles and get a Herman, Fisher, or Fleck. But those three didn’t work out, or our AD didn’t try hard enough (probably the latter). Sooo we’re stuck with O where our AD gave him a $12m buyout.
You see who we actually need to fire.... right?

Can someone please explain this logic?? What do you think Alleva should have done? Maybe go behind the scenes and work some kind of backdoor contract with Herman or Fisher while CLM was still employed by the university? Or maybe just continue to deny reports of an impending termination at years end because as we all know REPORTS get out and we really would’ve had a cluster frick then.... The problem is Alleva kept only two eggs in the basket and failed to properly gauge other candidates interest (like PJ Fleck and others) although CLM was fired after the third game. CEO was a last minute fill in because Alleva failed at doing his job!

Les shouldn't have been fired until a better replacement was found.
It's like having car trouble on your brand new 2018 A d trading it off for a 76 nova.
Stupid move.

What someone posted yesterday sums it up for me. Yes, he should have stayed until you had a concrete plan on the direction you want to go in.
They didn't.
Plus the buyout for Les shrinks every year. Now your stuck paying him and O. And possibly a new coach if it comes to that.

“LES MILES sucked worse”
You have to be a troll cause no sane/rational LSU football fan can look at the work product of coach O, at this time, and find it to be of greater value than that of Miles.
It’s fire AND hire and not just fire. We can try to pretend that it’s a singular action all we want but in this particular case, that’s not true.

Funny how some people want to revert back to Les. This is retarded. Just remember Winsconsin and Auburn last year. The man needed to go irregardless of who the coach was going to be. If O can't get it done, someone else will get a chance. Les damn sure wasn't the answer.

Once again that's linear thinking. The team that coach "O" took over was built and developed (o-line depth, lack of quarterback etc.) by Les. FYI o was not my third or even fourth choice. People have to realize this program was much weaker than when Les took over from Saban.
