Les had to go, regardless of his replacement.

I disagree

Les wasn't losing every game. You don't fire a national championship coach just for change.

You fire him because you're ready to go after the biggest names out there and spend money.

Yeah, there’s no way we should have kept the best coach in LSU history. I mean he only fielded one of the greatest college teams in the history of football in the 2011 team. I mean, 4 years of mid tier bowls? O muh Gurd! Throw him out mid season!

This fan base got what they deserve in O. Enjoy fighting for 4th place in the SEC West for the next 3 years guys. You’ve earned it.

ETA: we went from Saban to Miles and then to O. I’d rather Dinardo come back for christ’s Sake.

Can someone please explain this logic?? What do you think Alleva should have done? Maybe go behind the scenes and work some kind of backdoor contract with Herman or Fisher while CLM was still employed by the university?
Yes

Or maybe just continue to deny reports of an impending termination at years end because as we all know REPORTS get out and we really would’ve had a cluster frick then
Don't leak shite and it's not a problem.

Anyone hear anything about Georgia moving on Richt, up until they did? And notice- Kirby Smart was all set and ready to go.

UGA didn't randomly fire him with a hope and a backup consisting of Sylvester Croom. They picked their target, made sure he'd come, and pulled the trigger.
That's how you do it- one way.

The other way- copy the Florida State model. They had Bowden, an established winner who was coasting and no longer relevant (sound familiar?), they hired Jimbo Fisher as OC and HC in waiting, told Bowden this was the way it was going to be, and kept Bowden until Jimbo was ready. Perhaps it was the length of Bowden's last contract with no renewal, I don't remember exactly.

We COULD have done either method. Instead, we derped. Fired a good, workable coach who was good for 8+ wins any and every year here, and had nobody lined up.

Do you have no idea how quickly a program can turn to shite under the wrong guy or how long it can take to right the ship in the SEC? If you don't, ask Tennessee or Florida or most other SEC programs.

Or Miami, or Texas, or USC. All of these teams were once top tier until they fired their coach ( or he left for the NFL in USC’s case) and ilnone of them have sniffed the championship game after the firing.

LSU has done the same thing

Nebraska is probably the best parallel when they fired Solich.

followed the man that built the program.
was winning 9+ games every year
had a couple 11+ win seasons.
went to a Natty (lost to one of best teams ever assembled).

run out because it wasn’t good enough and wasn’t trending in right direction.
wanted someone to change the archaic offense into something more modern and dynamic.

in each of the 12 years since (already on 3rd coach since) they have lost more games than he did the year he got fired.
and they only need one more loss already this year to once again lose more games than what got Solich fired.

Glorious analogy. I mean bravo...
