Assuming you can land a position, what's a reasonable expectation for an attorney fresh out of Law School in Louisiana?

Defense, plaintiff, Government or Corporate Counsel? It varies widely.

Seriously though, just depends on the firm. I think Baton Rouge firms (quality defense firms, McGlinchey, Taylor Porter, Jones Walker, Phelps, BSW) no ambulance chasers) are starting kids off around $90k. Might be $10k higher depnding on desirability of the candidate. New Orleans is a little higher.

25k-100k?
And I'm not being a smartass.
Way too many factors involved here, to be more specific.

Cold? Like no history with the firm as a runner or intern and no family connection?
Coif? Law Review? New Orleans/BR or the hinterlands?
Need the info, baw, otherwise, we're just spitting in the wind. Could be between $40k and $80k, honestly - but my experience/info is getting quite dated now.

Depends on what school it is and where you finish in your class.

Perhaps SFP will hire you to handle the day-to-day affairs of his legal practice so he can focus entirely on TD.

dude just go to nursing school already or one of your other ideas
Definitely don't go to a Louisiana law school intending to work in Louisiana and expect to make really great money, unless a) you're a hustler or b) you're really smart and committed and going to kill it in school to get one of the relatively few high salary associate jobs in LA.

GF took the Bar over the summer, worked as a Paralegal for several years then "baby lawyer". Hired on to a firm till her results come in November at $75k. Will get paid full salary afterwards.

I've always interesting that people on here talk about big law so much when there are what, a handful of those firms in the state?
