Saw that this morning. Flying into Denver on February 3 and then driving to Steamboat for 5 days of riding. Praying that extended forecast comes thru as I desperately need a powder day.

So my kids (7 & 13)want to make a ski trip next year. I haven't been in 20+ years and started doing some research. Is my rough math correct, flights, room, lift tickets, etc is going to cost a family of 4 $10k to make this trip?

Check and see if Salt Lake City will do the Ski City Super Pass deal again next year. You got two free super passes per day per hotel room (passes are good at Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude). We stayed at hotel 10 minutes from big cottonwood this year for a little over $100 a night. If you look there are some good spring skiing deals that will be dropping when the season starts winding down too. You’ll easily be able to do a trip for less than 10,000 unless you plan on going to Deer Valley for a week between Christmas and New Years.

I'm flying out of Houston for less than $200/ticket. We are going as a group and found a VRBO home a few miles from the base of the peaks and still on the bus route. Total price for the lodge is under $1,500/couple.

I would count on about $1300+ per person including flights depending on where you want to go and how long. That estimate would be for a 5 day trip. Sounds like you have some additional expenses in clothes also though.

Park City with 6 more inches. Looks to be drying out for the next little while though. At least we got something going on for Mardi Gras though.

When I take our family of 4 we can fly for about $180 a person on SW to Denver, $400 for a van rental, $1500 or less for a condo rental for the week, $200 max for equipment rental. So without lift tickets or lessons factored in it’s around $2820.
I have been buying a RMSP season pass in the spring each year for around $400 and it has come with a free kids pass. It also comes with discounted lift tickets as well that I use for my wife and other son. All in costs are probably about $4k for our week long trip without food costs either.
Some places are cheaper than others as well. Staying outside of the ski village will save you a lot of money as most ski towns have free buses that will take you around.
Let us know where are considering going and I’m sure a lot of us here can help you get the costs down.

Ok, these numbers look much better. We don't need fancy. I have skied Brek and Winterpark before and we spent a week in Brek one summer and we really enjoyed the town.

Park City skied pretty nice this weekend.
Buff, if you aren't looking to hammer a bunch of chest-high moguls, run Iron Mountain + Dreamcatcher + Tombstone repeatedly. Some really fun stuff in that area and less traveled than main lifts.

That pass sounds pretty awesome. I would guess it’s more like the mountain collective than unlimited days at each place.

You'd think it'd be cost prohibitive if it were unlimited.
A Deer Valley early bird pass is $2,295

I believe there will be an unlimited option for resorts owned by Alterra (Steamboat, WP, Squaw/Alpine, Mammoth, Big Bear, Deer Valley, and some east coast resorts). Then the other resorts will have a few day options.
They specifically mentioned unlimited and local passes in their press releases. The pass choices and options should be released soon. Will be interesting to see the different levels.

Yep been buying the RMSP+ the past two seasons and sad to see it go. Hopefully they will still offer a free kids pass to people who buy in the Spring. But there are a few places they are partnering with I have wanted to check out so can’t wait to see the details announced.

Skiing is the best it's been all season (but that's not saying a ton to be honest). We have some chances for snow within the next 10 days. Never know much beyond that.
Hoping for a big February!
