What is your Position on the Border Wall?

I know the vast majority of the board is as passionate about it as the President is.
I'm really interested as to how you felt about a border wall even before Trump. Specifically:
--Had you thought about a border wall, as a singularly all-important deterrent to Illegal Imigration?
--Does it hold a sacred place in the tenets of conservative values like deficit reduction, small government, tax reform, Obamacare Repeal & Replace/tort reform, and military worship does?
--Should the country of Mexico pay for it and, if not, what is the most we should spend on it?
I would love some genuine answers to discuss

I'm more left wing and I fully support a border wall.
A country must manage its borders. Plus the lack of a wall makes people point to it (the lack of it) and say that it is proof the government does not care about the common man.
Build the wall.

It's one leg of the stool along with e-verify and visa enforcement. It's not the end all be all but it's been approved by congress for some time so lets build the fricking thing.

Enforcing our borders? Yes

It'd be great if they did but honestly don't expect them to

Waste of money, logistically impossible, and Mexico will never pay.
So I'm all for it!

Put on Texas', NM, AZ & Cali's southern borders

Tbh... I never considered a wall necessary until Hussein abandoned the concept of borders. At that point, I realized a physical barrier was needed when a single politician could cast aside national security with a pen & a phone.

Illegal aliens pouring over the borders has been the single most frustrating issue for me as an adult. Why is it even a political issue? They're illegal, for frick's sake! That makes them criminals. All of them.

I'll be on the north side of it

I hope this administration makes it a priority to build the wall first, then help the people affected by Hurricane Harvey. Or do whatever will help lift the President's approval ratings. MAGA!

North
Ah dang it
Securing your nations borders is never a bad thing. Much could be done with the stroke of a pen but DC doesn't agree. Using a combo of walls, fence, boots and surveillance all helps to curtail illegal products from entering. Better bigger and faster checkpoints would help. Ports need a major upgrade in boots and technology too. Its not just one thing that fixes this.

No. I thought of land mines two years ago and posted it here.

Boondoggle of the first order.

Its not necessary if the laws are actually followed. Unfortunately too many politicians refuse to follow the laws and face no repercussions for doing so.

Hopefully, on the U.S. side of it.

Do you have a door on your abode, E? Not rocket science, buddy. Throw a great party, and don't police who comes in...you know what happens.

The concept of an actual, physical concrete/brick/barbed wire wall is stupid and about as inefficient a means of border monitoring as you can get, IMO.
The concept of a "wall" consisting of physical barriers, electronic monitoring, manned incremental checkpoints, and vehicle stations to apprehend and enforce what is seen by the e-monitoring, plus whatever other cool surveillance tech I don't know about, is very much needed, IMO.

I think the wall is mostly a great campaign rally cry and not the best and most cost effective way to control immigration.
However, walls are a symbolic deterrent and the Hungarian wall appears to have had success there. It also has the benefit of the next open border President not being able to do anything about it unless they tear it down.
I always knew Trump was full of shite about the Mexico thing. The wall is a drop in the bucket with as much money as we waste on shite, so I don't have a problem with the cost.
Overall, I'm pretty mixed and don't have a super strong opinion either way. I do want illegal immigration stopped completely though - however that needs to be achieved.
