I do a lot of business down in Corpus. Yes, the first time you go the skyline will shock you. However, there's actually a lot of money in South Texas in Corpus is really the only major city. But it is still a giant shite hole.

You want to talk about the land of the haves and have not's ... it's Corpus Christi. The 20% of white people own everything and then it's just a shite load of Mexicans.

Also something you wouldn't know… The McAllen area is soon to be one of the biggest in the United States. It's huge.

City population is almost meaningless. You have to look at the metro.

Yeah it was US 77 I was on which turns into I69 in Corpus. It is like post-apocalyptic in that little stretch.

That skyline is deceiving. Downtown along the shore line isn't anything to think of.

And that's not a knock against them. The best view of the water area is from The Republic located inside the Omni hotel.

Eh... it's barely ahead of BR.

I could see it booming though, at least until the great wall of Trump is completed.

the RGV is 1.5 million people. it's a bit bigger than Baton Rouge

i will say this about McAllen (i go down there for work all the time... was there for 3 days this week,) either there is a shite ton of money or a shite ton of debt in that town. mercedes, bmw, lexus, and Audis everywhere. more than i see in Austin, SA, DFW, or Houston per capita i would say.

and there are some fine latinas down there.

I was just talking about the McAllen area... yeah I guess if you throw in the Brownsville area it gets a good bit bigger.

Corpus is on a slight growth spurt right now. Nobody thinks of it because it's in Texas, and will always be below Houston, Dallas, SA, Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, etc.

And whoever compared it to Juarez is just silly. It's got its share of poors, but they aren't beheading people and peddling mass amounts of drugs.

It's also not really a place you will just be driving through, unless you're going to South Padre, and even then you're just going around the very edge.

Right, which has an estimated 850K people, compared to 835K for the Baton Rouge metro area.

At one point, they had the most or one of the most "luxurious" car dealerships in all of North America.

Many of those vehicles are paid for in cash and then driven across the border.

sorry. OP is incorrect wording. the guy he quoted said McAllen area is booming, he said McAllen is barely bigger than BR, i said OP (when i should have said the guy you quoted) said McAllen area.

i took area as the RGV as a whole which is 1mm+. it's all the same to me really. Except Weslaco, Mercedes, and Donna. those are shitholes.
