Mexicans like flashy cars. This shouldn't be a huge shock. I lived in Hondo, TX which is pretty much half upper class red neck and half Mexican barrio and the people that lived in the "barrio" (as they referred to it) usually had much much flashier cars.

The two people I know that went there both transferred after their first year, and they didn't even know each other.

Yeah... and then you look at the welfare rates and you realize why people have a problem with illegal immigrants.

According to wiki...Corpus Christi has a metro of 442,000. That makes it roughly the size of Shreveport.

It's smaller than Baton Rouge or New Orleans, but it's definitely not a "small town".

I'm not surprised I knew was around the size of Baton Rouge maybe even bigger

I was surprised to learn that it's about half the size of the Baton Rouge metro area. It's actually smaller than I thought it was. It's roughly the size of Beaumont, but it looks much nicer especially on the water.

Believe me, Corpus is a much better place to live than BR or NOLA. I dont have to hear about people gettin capped every day around here.
Plus there is always a nice breeze here. Its a shame that people from here always ask me if the crime in NOLA is really that bad because they want to visit it. I tell them yes its very bad, stay away.

No one thinks of Corpus Christi as a big city because it's not a big city.

The surrounding towns that make up the metro area are quite small. Corpus has a larger population density that acttually lives in Corpus. There are 2 Naval Air Stations (Corpus and Kingsville). Most of the instructors from Kingsville commute from Corpus, as do a number of faculty from A&M Kingsville (including the college of pharmacy). There is a good sized chemical plant (Celanese, BASF, and Ticona) in Bishop, not to mention the refineries on the outskirts of town. There was always a good bit to do - Concrete Street and the American Bank Center for shows, Texas State Aquarium, USS Lexington, Hooks baseball, and the National Seashore. They built the Schlitterbahn park and resort after I left. Brewster Street Icehouse was a great place to bring a family to eat - outdoor playground, indoor/outdoor seating, and several live concerts. I used to love flying in and out of the airport- no crowds or hassle.

Yes, I've eaten there on a number of occasions. Mostly business. The steaks are good, but the sesame seared tuna was awesome.

I'm in Baton Rouge and I wholeheartedly agree with this statement.
