His odd behavior over the last months could mean the roots have already gotten into his language, motor and other brain functions
quote:
Sen. John McCain's tumor is one of the most aggressive forms of brain cancer. This kind of tumor, formally known as a glioblastoma multiforme, is aggressive and sneaky. It puts out microscopic roots that go deeper into brain tissue
quote:
The American Cancer Society puts the five-year survival rate for patients over 55 at about 4 percent.

Man that sucks. But McCain's behavior hasn't seemed that different than usual, especially since he's already getting in there in age.

Yea, it basically has roots that goes deep into the brain making it hard if not impossible to remove. This really sucks gang. McCain is a genuine American hero and patriot. I think we were all taken back by his questions in committee and statements. Obviously this cancer has had some impact on his cognitive ability. Sounds like a death sentence.

We gonna have a special election then or what?

I have mixed feelings about McCain.
Respect his service and what he went through.
He has been damaging to the Rep for years.
I don't understand people like him. I'm out grinding every day and retirement sounds so great when I can shut it down. These politicians are multimillionaires and won't quit.
What is wrong with them?

He seems like the type that would be in that 4%. Regardless of politics, no doubt the man is tough as nails.

He needs to check out that Bryzinsky (sp?) Clinic in Houston.

He definitely seemed off during the comey testimony and gorsuch confirmation hearings. His questions were all over the place, making no sense, and something seemed off about his facial expressions. I chalked it up to early onset dementia, so brain tumor makes perfect sense. Having seen the signs for so many months, I can almost assure you he will not survive this.

Cancer cells are pretty fascinating. Basically, they are immortal. Most of the cancer cell lines used in research today were harvested from cancer patients who died in the 50's and 60's. Kind of strange to think that someone who died of cancer nearly 70 years ago lives on as cancer cells.
I had the opportunity to work with breast cancer cells a few semesters ago. It was pretty neat watching them go into survival mode when treated with drugs. It gave me a fresh perspective on why they are so hard to kill.

If McCain cares about his constituents in Arizona, he will resign now to end the uncertainty and make sure Arizona has full time representation that's in perfect health.

I mean he's 81. His 5 year survival rate as a healthy 81 year old (though assuredly higher than 4%) I'd assume isn't great. The life expectancy for someone who's made it to his age is on average, 7 more years.

quote:far from accurate. That's the average. McCain may have much better chance or even worse. He's had a pretty good life and a lot of years. Don't mean that in a cruel way.

My dad made it about 2 years with that cancer. The last year he would talk and all the words sounded perfect, rhythm was good, punctuation was good, but they didn't make any sense. I think he knew what he wanted to say, but the wrong words came out.

I'm sorry if this question comes across as crass or disrespectful, that's not my intent, but I'm a realist.
I'm praying for Sen. McCain, I hope John McCain survives many more years but God forbid Senator McCain passes away, & if it's before our countries next election will the Dem's use Trump's previous (admittedly poor) comments about Senator McCain against him in ads and the public domain prove his "cruelness/lack of dignity or lack of tiness to serve"?
Sorry if this seems crass, just being pragmatic & realistic about how the political machine works, on BOTH sides.
Edited to clarify my question, was worded awkwardly first time around.

My dad's currently battling leukemia so I wish Mr. McCain all the best.

He's always infuriated me but he was a little off the last month or two. This makes sense.

Not a good sign. I don't particularly like Senator McCain, but I don't hate him either. That sucks for him and his family.

So is McCain off limits now to call out his utter cuck bullshite because he has the cancer?
Just asking because it seems whenever someone gets sick, as in terminal, all of the sudden people are expected to over look the stupid shite they do and have done. It's like we have to handle them with white gloves or something.
Asking for a friend..
