Teague is 3/57

Not as bad a deal as I had anticipated. I can live with it. Not great but...palatable.

Teague and Jrue are essentially the same guy, Teague prob better on offense and Jrue is better on defense but the numbers are nearly identical. The difference is Teague is 2 years older than Jrue.

I was hoping we would get something a little cheaper given what Teague and Mills got. Somthing closer to $22. $25 is definitely overpaying. Not sure what I expected though.

It rises with the cap, so we just hope the cap keeps rising to make it more palatable over the long term.

The proliferation of super teams can hopefully add more playoff games. The Warriors and Cavs being so dominant in the playoffs is why the cap went down another $2 million

Starting at 21%-22% of the cap isn't bad imo.

He probably makes himself a FA around the same time AD and Boogie do. Makes sense.

Just read that bonuses could take it to 5 year 150 million.

I assume the bonuses are structured where it will be well worth it.

Yeah, I'm thinking First Team All NBA, MVP, Finals MVP, that sort of thing.

If he gets any of those give him all the money and build a statue.

At least one other team was ready to pay him 25 per. But without incentives and 5th year. Big difference. $$$$ won

In a vacuum maybe

Not with contracts like Asik and Solomon Hill on your roster

Yea that's why I had asked. I would hope the numbers were similar. But if the cap hits at $22 mil for Holiday (Jrue is getting $25 mil) then the $19 mil Teague is getting isn't a huge difference.

If he wouldn't have hit the open market I'm almost certain he would have gotten less but that's not a risk we can afford to take. Especially now that the Jrue signing is behind us we can focus on improving the rest of the roster early

You're right. We won't.

But the difference between the terrible Hill and Asik contracts is that Hill is still young and can at least contribute. Asik is a complete albatross. A fettuccine alfredo eating albatross.

I can live with this contract. Now stay healthy and play like we know you can every night, not every other night.

Still hope we can swing a trade for a starter.

I'm more concerned about 8% raises if the cap is flat for the next several years. I think you could trade Holiday today and next year, but in 3 years when you may actually need to, how tradeable is he? Especially if say $1 million a year of incentives are injury related?

will need to see the numbers for the later years but I do not think he will be unmovable.

re: cap..we have no idea what the cap will be. but I do think worry about it flattening is a bit overstated. it wasnt as high as expected this year, but it still went up $5M. and that slow down may mean there will not be a reduction in the cap in the next couple of years, as many thought. a drop would be disastrous

Here's Nahmad on future cap

quote:

Salary cap and luxury tax figures:
2017-18 (A): $99.093M / $119.266M
2018-19 (E): $102M / $123M
2019-20 (E): $108M / $131M
