Free agent guard Jrue Holiday has reached agreement on 5-year, $126M deal to stay with New Orleans, agent Jason Glushon tells ESPN.

Still think it's high, but waaaay more livable than the max reported yesterday

Way better than the 5 year 170 BS they were talking about last night. Good job being the first to break story

The signing of Jrue Holiday now has New Orleans with $105m in guaranteed contracts (9 players). The Pelicans still have the $8.4m full mid-level and $3.2m bi-annual exception available but will need to pay attention to the $119m luxury tax. The Pelicans for next summer could have $80m tied up in three players when you factor in a possible max contract for DeMarcus Cousins. Bobby Marks, ESPN

Deal includes bonuses that could move package to $150M, and a player option on 5th year.

Assuming deal starts at 21.5 mil, with max raises. Basically, a 4 year ~96 mil deal.

That's a pretty good deal.

I would assume that means we will be overpaying for his brother though or has Justin moved on from playing in New Orleans?

Still an overlay but WAY better than the max that was discussed yesterday. Jrue does most things well and hopefully he will take a step forward with health and familiarity with Davis/Boogie now.

As others have stated, Dell's job now becomes making the right call on filling the roster through cheaper guys or through trades. If he does a good job and finds some reliable shooters and Gentry/Finch can figure out the on court stuff, then we should be headed in the right direction. A lot of "ifs" but I don't think this Jrue contract is nearly the killer that it seemed it could be yesterday.

I'm so-so on this. I'm definitely gonna need to see way better performance out of him in combination w/ AD & Boogie than we saw last year.

Now I see why his agent was so aggressively leaking contact with other teams

Hearing Pelicans, fresh off re-signing Jrue Holiday, will be engaging with veteran G Nick Young, last with the Lakers, today.

I'm pretty curious about what the incentives are. They usually are pretty unrealistic like a fake 2nd rounder, but if health is one of the incentives I'd expect Holiday to make that.

$50M seems like a lot to have entirely classified as unlikely

ETA - sorry, its only $25M. That seems like a normal amount $5M/yr so agent can claim it's $150M.

Has anyone seen the Teague #'S yet? For comparison to Jrue?
