Also, a pitcher that will probably factor in is new commit AJ Labas.

Project, I saw that the other day. HUGE pickup to replace Enlow, he was a 17th round draft pick of the Mets last month with room to fill out and grow.

Reid made A LOT of errors at 3B. His hitting tailed off a lot in the second half of he season

Yeah, Reid won't be starting at 3B next year. I would like to keep Slaughter at 1B because of his length, but I think he will get the first shot at 3B.

I really think Reid will be big for us next season.

I am hoping that Frederick will be a decent reliever.

Is Frederick still a Tiger?
No one else has mentioned him

Yeah, he's struck out 8 and walked 1 in 5.1 innings in the Cal Summer League. He's got a high ERA though.

He's got strike out stuff. He just needs to develop.

The scary thing is LSU's lineup in 2018 will be young but extremely experienced in post season play, you have to think besides Coomes every starter has a chance to come back for 2019. (I don't think Duplantis leaves after his junior season)

That's why I'm hoping someone besides Coomes wins the catching job. Team will be loaded in 2019.

I know its weird that a 2 year lineup starter guy is getting left out. But hard to see him winning a position job. And Bryce is a better hitter at DH from what we've seen, so I dont know where he winds up.... will be interesting

Adam has it right. If the 2018 team can piece together a competitive season and maybe get to Omaha to keep the experience level up, we might reach the promised land in 2019.

By 2019 Doolittle will be ready to give us an All-American catcher. That's if Feduccia isn't starting ahead of him as a senior.

By 2019 you could have Nick Storz as a sophomore at first base. With a year of experience under his belt he might be one of the best power hitters in the country.

By 2019 Slaughter and Smith will be veterans in the middle infield in their money years.

By 2019 LSU should have a third baseman nailed down between Chris Reid (a senior), Rankin Woley and Mason Templet (juniors) and maybe Nick Webre (sophomore).

I'm going to guess Antoine Duplantis' draft stock next year won't quite be good enough to move him out of LSU, so you'll have him in left. I'm also going to guess Zack Watson will skip his sophomore eligible draft status because he'll see the benefit of one more year in the strength program and you'll have him as a junior in center field. And you'll have Daniel Cabrera in right field as a sophomore.

Which means Woley, Templet, Webre and a bunch of others we'll recruit next year (not even going to factor them in because it's too early to know who's a draft risk and who's not) can fight it out for DH.

On the mound, you're going to lose Hess and Gilbert. But you'll have Walker, Todd Peterson, A.J. Labas, Storz, Trent Vietmeier and a couple of the other freshmen for next year, plus I have a feeling about Will Reese developing into a weekend starter as he fills out and gets stronger. There are some good potential bullpen arms - Beck and Bush might give you a nice back end as juniors. And if we can get any of these 2019 pitching recruits on campus we'll be in fantastic shape because you have some potential Nola/Gausman/Lange/Hess types in that group.

2019 is the next big year. Whatever you get out of next season beyond hosting a regional, we should be satisfied with that.

He needs to try to get Danville to let him play third base. That's where the everyday playing time is.

I love the additions of Vietmeier, Scheoer, and Labas. All three are big right handers who pound the zone with huge frames and will get stronger and stronger with the benefit of starting in midweek games. At least one of them should pan out as a weekend starter by their sophomore year.

Add in the stellar recruiting class that LSU is bringing in for 2019 and that year is setting up for another run.

And Kodros.

I don't expect a whole lot out of him as a freshman based on the idea that asking anybody who's 6-5 and 166 pounds to do anything athletic at an SEC level seems like a stretch, but by the time he's a sophomore and he's more like 190, with that funky delivery and maybe a few more mph on his fastball, he could be a real pain in the arse for opposing hitters by 2019.

Not to mention that by then we might actually have something with Blair Frederick from the left side. By that year we could well be able to match lefty-righty on some teams in the late innings of close games.

I'm not convinced about Smith at SS. He is excellent at third. Leave him there. I don't see the range for an LSU SS. I'm sure he'll start the year there, but hopefully we have a freshman SS who can be elite.

If Storz is pitching Manieri won't use him in the field.

That's optimism on Walker. I hope you're right.
