We don't.

With no errors Florida probably would have been shut out last night. Zero runs after six innings, Poche probably completes 7, then Hess pitches two clean.

Yep. Amazing and sad how the early errors had a domino effect.

You're welcome.

I've used LSU baseball as a way to teach myself to use Excel, so I create spreadsheets for damn near everything about it, including eligibility (recruiting, class size, roster size, draft eligibility, etc).

Sorting and copy/paste are really handy.

Project, here's a somewhat difficult question for you. If you had the rate this class, say 1-whatever, how would you do that? Storz is the "prize?" Or is that Cabrera? Or is the recent pitching commit that guy?

I think we met our needs very well save for an instant starter at 3rd (because we lost that guy to the draft). But on a number scale I've got no idea.

Yes.

He helps offset the loss of Enlow to the pros and a couple guys to JUCO (Keller, McCabe). And he adds to a really good depth pitching class. Probably our deepest haul of pitchers since Lange's freshman year, now let's hope more stick around and pan out (for us) than that class.

Imagine if we had Latz, Marshall, Godfrey and Norman in Omaha. All juniors with a lot of experience. What could have been.....

How does one show range at 3B? Very rarely is a there a play that allows you to show the range you would at SS.

Smith has been excellent and I have no doubt he can play SS just judging off his mannerisms

He'll do fine. He might not make as many highlight reel plays, but he'll do a lot less airmailing of the ball or forcing the first baseman to become Plastic Man to record outs.

And the hair will be much less of a curiosity.

Do it the Billy Beane way. Get on base. (OBP). Chris Reid will give you that.

Paging Project Recruiting Guru:

Not one person has mentioned brennan Breaux. Is he going to transfer? Any insight? Thanks!

The problem is he just doesn't have much of a stick, and with Cabrera coming in and Watson and Duplantis entrenched out there it's hard to envision more of a role for him than occasional defensive sub and pinch-runner.

Just an oversight on my part. I don't like to speculate on transfers. He could play his way into a starting OF position, but it's going to be hard.

One thing I wouldn't mind seeing is that if he's not going start in the OF, maybe he goes back to pitching again and gives us another lefty out of the pen.

He could still have a role as a late inning defensive guy (though that role is really limited with the way we recruit OFs now), pinch runner, and short relief. Could probably mix in a little 1B if necessary.

Coomes at DH, I can't see Mainieri letting him Catch. Feduccia or Doolittle at Catcher.

The kid's life-long desire to play LSU ball and his work ethic will put him behind the plate day 1.

Yeah I've been intending to start a thread asking about our incoming catchers but wanted to wait til the smoke/melt cleared. Can anyone give a brief breakdown of him and Doolittle?

Just thought I'd add that I was told Cabrera starts day 1, and even though we know Brennan Breaux wasn't allowed to do both, Cabrera hasn't been ruled out as a pitcher/OF

That came from a PBHS person, and it was supposedly something discussed b/w his camp and LSU prior to/during the draft.
