Aporkalypse booth was quite disappointing. Multiple grand champ winner and they're selling nachos, hot dogs, and hamburgers.

What's stand up and snout in the mayo category?

You are asking the wrong person about a category using the name mayo!

You're not just judged on your menu. Teams submit butts, ribs, whole hogs, etc. they don't necessarily sell these items to the public.

How is the Grand Champion selected?

I imagine there is some math to it, but obviously you don't have to win any category to win the all around.

did you try Missing Links, i think it was called? those were legit, and had a nice hint of sweetness to them. They werent over salted like most cracklin i try

Still have some of them. They were a little crunchy for me. The Tiger Tailgaters (way in the back) had some pretty damn good ones. The style I like at least.

Was a really good tamale. I love a good tamale too.

Sauce was too sweet, but to each their own.

I liked the event better when it was smaller and in city park. Some teams put almost no effort into service food, and you have to walk all over the place to find places that are putting out a thoughtful product.

I thought Frey did a good job putting out nice food with a nice setup.

I wish that Hogs would publish the amount of money that was raised from actual food sales at the festival by team.

I did. Good texture. The sweetness turned me off right away, as I'm a keto disciple.

I agree that too many are oversalted. I prefer the spicy kind.

That's how they calculate the fan favorite. You want to go to a booth that is selling food look for the fan favorites.

So hard to try even one type of food. Cracklins travel the best.

Like everyone putting them in paper bags now

. Those poor teams in the left quadrant near the gate where there was no stage. it was like a ghost town every time I took a stroll that way.

I think the size is ok but it is a lot to take in once you get there. I wish they would publish what each team is making and what parties are involved. I know some teams want to make it a secret but even if it were on the pamphlet and given out the day of, that would help plan.

the tamale was excellent
they did a good job getting people into the booth
with so many options you really need a hype man out front

boars nest was a great place to hang...nice and cool in the shade and open bar

overall I thought the move to the lakefront was positive
much more room, no lines anywhere and easy to get in and out
although I bet rouses restricts their lot next year...it was slap full when we left after railroad earth so if you wanted to go grocery shopping you were shite out of luck

Had a great time yesterday, and as someone stated, I only missed the shade provided by the stately oaks of City Park and my convenient walk to and from the fest. Got there early and parked on the other side of the levee in the public lots, so that was easy. Crackins from Puerco Rico were flavortown, and had some tasty sliders, sandwiches and ribs from many teams. Couldn't find whole hog anywhere but Company Burger. Music was perfect, it's a great crowd of people, and for a spectacular cause. Love seeing the overall growth of the event from its infancy and can't wait for next year.
