Where is a good place to stand along the route that has decent access to parking? Maybe somewhere towards the beginning near City Park? I will have a small group of 11-12 year olds with me so trying to find an okay spot.

ETA: Apparently the route was wrong, frick Neworleansonline.com

Orleans but get out there now to mark off your spot.

Park at the Kenilworth street in Lakeview. Walk to city park.

If boys, just take them to bourbon and let them see boobs.
They will be more interested in that than a parade.

Orleans is a cluster. Probably the most crowded spot on the route.
I would try to get down on Canal in mid city

youth sized bullet proof vests shouldn't be too expensive, and depending on how many you're buying you may even get a volume discount.

Don't be a dumbass. I'm taking about where it makes the turn from Carrollton into Canal.

Endymion is huge, everything about it. Parade, crowds, clean-up after, traffic getting out.

If you'd like to be able to corral your group of kids and get out, you will have to find a parking spot a fair distance off of the route with a way out, afterward. That means a good, solid walk. I don't know what parking is like I haven't been in years. City Park SEEMS to be a good spot to park, but getting out of there will take some planning, plus you'll have to walk a nice bit.

Good luck.

The beginning by Delgado or anywhere along Orleans Ave is probably the best spot to watch it, one of the good things about Endymion is that you don't have to be right up front to catch stuff, those guys like to show off their arms, so standing back on the neutral ground will not be a problem.

Anywhere at the beginning is your best bet. Orleans does get crowded but if you can manage parking a few blocks off the route and have a good exit away from traffic then I would do that.

During high school and college I was always on Orleans and yes, it was a shite show then and I'm sure it is still like that.

It's a mess.

We used to have a friend with a house on Orleans and that was the bomb.
The first year after they moved, we ordered our own port-o-potty to be delivered out there and I slept out on Orleans the night before.
Of course right as St. Aug comes marching down the street the trash comes out of the wood work and jumps right into the middle of our shite. I am easy going and it's part of mardi gras so it didn't piss me off or anything, but I was aggravated with the fat arse dad sitting in my chairs.

The last few years we went it seemed like the whole neutral ground was wall to wall with people and lots of frats were out there with their living room furniture and stuff.

FYI to the OP...that's not the correct route. Endymion rounds Lee Circle and heads back towards the Dome, where it ends...not at the Convention Ctr

My best friend lived on Solomon Place right off of Orleans. I made one parade out there, to many people for me. Went back to his house 3 floats into the parade and got stoned with a chic who was equally uninterested in the parade.... ended up taking the skin boat to tuna town.

By the way your route is wrong LINK

Yep. Make sure and mark off as large an area as possible, and then act a fool when people don't acknowledge your land claims.

That sounds more fun.
We go downtown sometimes where a friend has a nice set up.
I think I'm just going to head over to Second Line Brewery nearby on Saturday afternoon to drink and then rest up for my Thoth ride.
