I was once told by a wise man...
If you look forward to a drink, drink in a social atmosphere, enjoy a drink at the end of a long day,
and can go a day or more between drinks, etc. -- you are not an alcoholic
An alcholic depends on alcohol, cannot go without it, and drinks even without the enjoyment, lets it affect other areas of his life and is always looking for his next way to get a drink

when I read the FBD thread I kind of wonder about some of the folks hammering down "craft" beers at 11am during the week.
I agree. Every time I start questioning myself, I just go to the F&D Board, open the FBD thread, and say "whew, at least I'm not starting at 10:35 am on a Tueday".

That first two finger glass of single malt scotch with just a teaspoon of tap water to bust it open is like a lovely warm quilt wrapped around my shoulders on a cold night.
The following seven glasses of scotch turn that quilt into a cape that makes me jump off buildings.

Do you guys really have at least one drink every night? Am I just out of the norm on this? Everyone I know that does this I consider an alcoholic and I don't know many successful people that do this. Maybe I am the one out of touch, I dunno.
I mean I get drinking in the weekend but every night blows my mind. I love a good whisky and nice cigar but no way and hell could I do that every night. I mean maybe one beer or like I said a glass of wine but hard liquor on a weekday?

No, not nightly, but sometimes I enjoy a glass of wine or maybe 2 during the week. One night it's a couple beers, the next night it's nothing. I don't really plan on drinking or how many I have. I think most people here enjoy it and are perfectly healthy and happy.

Youre a light drinker. Nothing wrong with that. You made quite the wrong assumption, however.

I suspect my wife posts as lsu777. Gonna need to research this issue further...

As Gris said, you're a light drinker, and there's nothing wrong with that, but I'd be careful about casting aspersions.
And what do you mean by successful people? I know guys that pull in seven figure salaries that have at least a couple of drinks every night.

My cousin is a multi millionaire and one of the hardest working people I have known in my entire life. He drinks half a bottle of wine a night.
These restrictions posed by analstick are unfounded and solely based upon his own misguided perceptions. If you are getting hammered nightly, then you have a problem. I can knock out 2 glasses of wine or old fashion in a night and not feel a thing. I enjoy the drink, not the drunk. That's it. End of story.

I drink beer everyday. I only drink liquor 4-5 nights a week. So, the way I look at it, I only drink 1 or 2 days a week. Which is nice...
