-No more back counting schollies
-10th on field coach is coming
-If recruiting a player from High School A, their HC cannot work any summer camps at your institution. Gone are the days of a coach packing up 5-10 players and taking them out of state for a summer camp, more than likely.
-Early signing day on 3rd Wednesday of December
-If you have recruited player A, a college cannot hire player A's coach until a 2 year window has closed.
-July could become a dead period, eliminating many big time camps around the country.

Why was Orgeron opposed to the early signing period?

Some of those are really good. A couple I don't like:

Maybe I'm reading this wrong, but wouldn't that essentially prevent just about every high school coach from being considered for a college coaching position? At least locally.

Let's take Catholic's coach for example. I'm sure every year he has at least 1 player being recruited by all the local colleges.

Not sure I agree with this one. Kids are in school until mid-late May and then the season starts in August. What this means is EVERYONE will be competing for the same recruits to attend their June camps. It will be a shite show.

When is this coming? I feel like we're gonna need this to get all our coaches in place for 2017.

Nothing about alumni players participating as scout skill players in practice?

This is the tweet from ESPNs reporter regarding this:

quote:

AFCA executive director Todd Berry said a "high majority" of FBS coaches are in favor of the IAWP legislation in the recruting reform package that would prohibit individuals associated with prospects from being hired for non-coaching positions like recruiting operations or analyst jobs. College basketball has a similar rule in place.

it looks like the coaches can be hired to actually coach just not for some BS analysit position

Like the early signing day.

And like the fact Nick will have to find more loopholes to continue to get the best players.

Wish they could close the giving parents of recruits a job window.

But this is good. Saban likes to hire assistant HS coaches of recruits as staffers.

When are the coach and player linked? At any point in Player A's HS career or only when Player A is a senior?

Dead period in July is horrible that's how most kids get evaluated against better players and start to receive interest from schools

The only thing approved is that the coaches will make these recommendations. They don't make the rules.
