Over promising.

Only significant difference b/w LSU and AL on the field this year was Hurts. For a program that failed to recruit and develop the most important position on the field for 12 years, it has been difficult to witness your AD address the program's most glaring weakness, then turn around and hire a DL coach to fix the problem.
Now we're held hostage on a yearly basis hoping for an offensive minded individual to bring in the right kid and develop him. I agree w power spread, but we don't have anyone outside of Scott that MIGHT fit the bill on the roster, if he can avoid excessive contact.
It would seem to me that an OC w an inside track to a Day 1 starter like Stidham or the JUCO kid would make the most sense at this point. I feel like O did the Brennan kid a solid here, b/c power spread will never be his game, IMO.

So disregard the rest of Bama's team. Hurts is loaded around him.
Again. Do a little research before you take a position. Bama also starts:
Soph, Jr, Sr - WRs
Soph - TE
2x Soph - RB
Fr, Soph, Jr, 2x Sr - OL
Soph, 2x Sr - DL
Jr, 3x Sr - LB
3x Soph, 2x Jr - Sec.
So half of their starters are Fr or Soph. That's not remotely an overwhelming advantage vs LSU. Considering LSU starts only 4 Soph, and ZERO freshmen. Its talent, and coaching that wins
LSU has the talent, and a roster loaded with upper classmen, but hasn't had the coaching. And still doesnt

I believe if it is not Kiffin or Sark, it will be a Briles tree guy, not just because the offense but because of Texas recruiting. Our big Texas recruiter BDP was shown the door.
Seems like Sterlin Gilbert would fit the profile. Plus, he's available.

Another reason he wants to go away from Pro style is LA doesn't produce a lot of Pro style QBs and it fits what LA HS are mostly doing.
Is LSU barred from recruiting QB's outside of Louisiana?
One of the best ones in the country is right on the other side of the Louisiana eastern border in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi. (And they better not continue to screw around and lose him)
Get your QB's and OL's elsewhere!

Thank you for your insight. It really makes a lot of sense which is not always too common on TD!
90% of TR and SECR (Estimated) are HS and College kids that have never played any competitive sports, still live with mommy and daddy and don't have girlfriends.
They're bored kids that don't have anything better to do with their time. Junior Lumps.
TD is their life.
Most don't have an utter clue about football or what it takes to produce Championships.

Go look again because according to the updated depth charts as of 11/30, they show 7 starters on offense and 9 starters on defense that are redshirt sophomore or above. Which means they have been in the program @ least three years. But you are right to a degree, this year we were close to having all the right players, but lacked the offensive coaching staff to win. However, many years we are putting 1 or 2 year starters against 2 and 3 year guys for Bama. It's the power positions that hurts the most (DL, OL, LB). I doubt you would have much of an argument saying we have equal or more talent in the trenches against Bama.
i don't think anyone is arguing our coaching has been equal or superior to Bama, but an objective person should be able to agree with Tigerbaitlawyer on his points with regards to the players.

In fairness... its not like Saban is some QB whisperer. He hires guys to develop and prepare his QBs to not make mistakes that would cost his team a win.
O's whole tenure will depend on who he tags as OC, and I think the reason why he's going so hard at Kiffin is because Kiffin is a bonafied stud OC, and even if O knows that he only has 1 year with Kiffin, O wants to "get off on the right foot" with his OC hire, because EVERYBODY knows LSU would be deadly with an offense that can score.
I hope whoever he hires can get us there.

I stand by what I said previously. Osu's one game anomaly is not a trend. Bama would have beat OSU 8/10 games that year. Bama played a bad second half.
Okay, whatever.
You realize OSU was playing with their 3rd string QB and still took it to Saban and Aranda's D
That same OSU squad a year later ended up having more first rounders than ever too.

I really hope not. Having said, I look for it to be announced by Friday lol

Sorry guys Hurts is not the difference. LSU has not developed the OL position well enough. The difference in the trenches is why Alabama has beaten LSU. Etling is not a terrible QB. I would argue behind Bama OL he would have done quite well.

ding, ding, ding, we have a winner. It's a shame it takes a bama fan to know the lsu team better than half the lsu fans on this board.
Bama beats lsu in the trenches. specifically offensive tackles, defensive end, and defensive n/g, tackle.
If you watch the game this year. The two teams were pretty close. Our tackles couldn't handle their ends. In turn, etling was rushed and panicked. Hurts didn't have a lot of time either. however, as the game wore on, our d line tired and he became effective up the gut. (Gilmore) This was later exposed by atm. Gilmore w/o beckwith behind is a HUGE WEAKNESS.
What is really frustrating, two of the position they have the edge at are result of Louisiana players. Williams and Robinson. Put them on lsu's team, take them off of bama's team. You might win that game.
If you look at the games lsu lost this year. Wisonsin, Bama, Au, and Florida. All four teams defensive line whipped our o-line.

Well, what are you hearing about the dominos now?

Oh I didn't say that Hurts was the difference. I said
Which is what Hurts did. McCarron may be the best "QB" they've hd in a while.
We definitely lost the trench battle against Bama a few weeks ago though.

As you say the power positions and the QB position are positions we need kids to stay on the program for the long haul (minimum of 4 years in the program and 3 years with significant playing time). There is ample supply of RBs, WRs and DBs in Louisiana. Those positions are less of a concern in terms of building a program's foundation.

Nah. Miles would've had Robinson playing guard until his senior year.

Ask DALSU, he is never wrong, or right, I can't remember

Thats the exception, not the rule. All you have to do is look at last year's draft to know that Ohio State team had a wealth of high draft picks.
