They aren't getting away that easy. Before they leave we should get 2 years to call them racist slave owning neo-confederates.

I harbor no resentment and hope California succeeds in their endeavors should secession happen. I would like respect and interactions based on shared interests.

The country might just be too big. Perhaps a series of breakups will restore the region to a more Republic-like model.

This one size fits all mentality where the federal government can dictate morality and social behavior is not what the founders envisioned and is not constitutional. Looking at the electoral map, it is clear that popular culture is dreamed up and force fed by smaller select regions. If we can't get along as states then maybe we can as separate sovereign nations.

Now wait, lets be rational about this.

Think about Hollywood, the money that California alone brings in to the federal government. I really do not think it is a wise idea to just let them go

Also, some of the best universities in are California and dont get me started on a little something called "Silicon Valley" and the powerful STEM workforce in that state.

California is a very valuable state to our union, and I think we can work out our differences.

I trust you are joking, right?

Lake Mead is in Nevada. Why would Arizona get water from there if California can't?

California is pretty good. Even though they go a bit full tard sometimes we need to keep them. We need to divide up the state though. Truth be told I like their food laws. They do limit corporations a bit from poisoning the food and spraying pesticides everywhere.

If anything we just need to get the liberals transportation to Canada and/or Mexico and not let them come back in. We get California back and lose a big liberal voting block.

I will love to see the SF and L.A. leaders getting perp walked over the treasonous sanctuary city shite.

And then watch the rest of them fall in line. So, Trump loses a few more votes in CA in 2020. Big deal.

Our watershed comes from the Sierra Nevada's which are, you know, in California!

What about the 4.4 million acre feet that California gets from the Colorado River? That's over 1/10 of California's water if I'm not mistaken and is the main supplier for southern California.

Also, how will California power everything?

A conservative estimate is 50% of their power generation is from natural gas power plants (the US Energy Information Administration pegs it at 60%).
quote:

California accounts for less than 1% of total U.S. natural gas production and that output equals about one-tenth of state demand.

quote:

Several interstate pipelines bring natural gas into California from the Southwest, the Rocky Mountain region, and western Canada, by way of Arizona, Nevada, and Oregon.

LINK

I doubt those pipelines continue unabated until some deal is reached with the new government of the seceeded California. Same with the agreement to drain water from the Colorado River system.

I guess you didn't know that the Hoover dam straddles Arizona and Nevada?

I have a simple solution- dam off the Colorado at the California state line, and divert it to Arizona and Nevada farmers instead.

It's not like California needs the water, right?

This will not happen. The fact that most of the people on here seriously want it to is sad. California seceding would be a huge blow to both the US and California's economies, not to mention a HUGE burden on US military. There is a large amount of critical US Federal government infrastructure (military bases, research, etc) that we cannot afford to lose. Not to mention, California is a defining state for our country as it has Hollywood and Silicon Valley. Trust me, these things are worth having a liberal bastion in the country.

These idiots are forgetting one major thing. They don't have water. The most basic element needed for human life. They don't even have water! SMH

I'm not saying that California is self-sufficient, but what countries are? And what would Wyoming and Utah do with all that electricity if they weren't selling it to the grid (and ultimately California)? Texas would still want to sell their natural gas wouldn't they? Or if they didn't we could make it, but it would be tougher. Anyway like I said no serious people are discussing seceding.

Regarding the water, we'd have to cut back on making almonds. Look up how much water we use growing almonds if you want your mind blown.

80% of our water is used on agriculture which is only 5% of our eceonomy. We have more water than you do, we just use a lot of it.
