Holy shite.

Cali blocked their borders during The Great Depression, put up roadblocks and shot people trying to enter L.A.

They don't even know their own history.

Will be kind of hard for them to raise Avacados, almonds, and other food items without the water that comes in from the states east of them. U.S. can just shut off the spigot and that whole state just dries up. See how long they last without fresh water or gas and electricity coming in from Texas? I guess, they can build desalinization plants and pay $8 a gallon for water, or ship in their natural gas from Venezuela on natural gas ships and pay triple the cost of gas currently coming in from Texas.

Let me chime in here about California agriculture. California agriculture is centered around fruits and vegetables. They cannot effectively grow grain, cotton, or proteins due to their extreme shortage of water. In addition, the freight costs to ship grains to feed animals in that state put them at an extreme disadvantage to the Plains for beef, Appalachia for poultry, and the Midwest for pork. True they have somewhat of a dairy industry and egg industry, but the cost of real estate and their ideology is forcing those two out as well.

Rankings for California production of certain products referenced in your post:

Hay - 3rd
Cotton - 4th
Rice - 2nd

Yeah we get our water from the water abundant states east of us like Arizona and Nevada. Wait you said Texas. Does that water travel through the famous Texas to California water pipeline?

You guys are hilarious! Our watershed comes from the Sierra Nevada's which are, you know, in California!

There is still a sizable conservative population in CA. If the liberals secede, recognize a government-in-exile representing the Republican-held counties, and provide weapons and air support to the "rebels" along with military advisors.

California is not "the largest state in the union." Obviously written by a non-English speaking person.

It is the most populous state in the union.

I'd tell them no. And future talk of secession will be considered treason. We will preserve the union by force if we must. It's an imperative of national security and prosperity that we do.

I am willing to overlook the 140ish years of hypocrisy to see them off.

Secession, it's not just for "racist, bigoted traitors" anymore! Wait, New England tried it before the civil war?

We're not even threatening to leave!

And we have our own water. We just understand that water like other resources is limited and plan accordingly.

Yep... more and more films, pilots, series, etc. aee filming elsewhere (mainly in republican states that offer far better tax incentives) and Cali apparently leads the nation in poverty now.

I'm like you, love the natural beauty the state offers, but even it can frick itself right in its very own liberal pussy.

If they want to secede, then by all means I'll help lead the movement. But we all know it'll never happen, so all we can hope for is the mega-quake.

Why do you even bother? Most posters here have their minds made up and won't change no matter how many facts you show them.

Now wait, lets be rational about this.

Think about Hollywood, the money that California alone brings in to the federal government. I really do not think it is a wise idea to just let them go

Also, some of the best universities in are California and dont get me started on a little something called "Silicon Valley" and the powerful STEM workforce in that state.

California is a very valuable state to our union, and I think we can work out our differences.

So once they leave they'll be taxed on all of these goods and services in order to get them to their largest customer, the U.S.

Add in the tax breaks to companies moving into the U.S. and they will soon see the advantages to leaving Cali and coming back to the U.S. Cali's economy sinks and it devolves into essentially a third world country. Just like every other democratically controlled place in the U.S.

Ever heard of Lake Mead?

Do everyone a favor and call your congressional delegation that you no longer need water from the Colorado River.

Arizona says thanks.
