PT posters have a mental block on reading things that they disagree with.

Let's recap. The letter in the OP never suggests that we want to leave the US. In fact it explicitly states the opposite. Secondly we (California) are a donor state. We pay more in federal taxes than we get back. If you live in Louisiana you live in a debtor state and rely on the federal govt. Tax-wise us leaving hurts you, not us.

You don't have more than the South. Not even close.

Nice try though.

how many of them are from the liberal side of the state? This is the issue with stats, just because a kid is from cali doesn't mean they were born there or that they would be a liberal. A good chunk of cali is very red, the population centers like most are blue and cali just happens to have some major population centers.

Maybe not but we have a lot. And I did say fight smarter not harder. The south isn't where advanced weapons are designed. But guess where is?

another misnomer, going off federal tax revenue. The ones that wanted to leave in Texas and the south are the actual revenue earners. They dislike the ones that cause the balance to be off. Also its been brought up but not paying for social security for cali would be a nice thing. Cali would have to fund everything on its own and it wouldn't work.

Not many states could leave the US and survive on their own. You would need a nice pack of states.

Oh I don't doubt your desire to be a donor state and not a debtor state. I'm just pointing out that we are and you're not, so the argument that we'll lose federal money is ridiculous.

And regarding those that aren't productive, I believe that california has 20% of all the people on welfare in the country. Maybe your productive people just aren't as productive as ours.

It actually is the south so let's stop pretending California is a bastion of intellect and progress. What you think arms designers cannot get a guidance chip from somewhere else? This isn't 1970 buddy kids in high school can build them now.

As a nation we do need the ports and agriculture.

Let me chime in here about California agriculture. California agriculture is centered around fruits and vegetables. They cannot effectively grow grain, cotton, or proteins due to their extreme shortage of water. In addition, the freight costs to ship grains to feed animals in that state put them at an extreme disadvantage to the Plains for beef, Appalachia for poultry, and the Midwest for pork. True they have somewhat of a dairy industry and egg industry, but the cost of real estate and their ideology is forcing those two out as well.

All the vegetables and fruit that are grown in California can be grown in Arizona and South Texas with the right water, Texas and Florida can provide citrus, and fair trade agreements with Cuba and Mexico can be negotiated to help augment that.

Furthermore, their need for water basically will end California agriculture without imported water from lake Mead. In addition, their ideology to demand all non-gmo and organic will force mass production agriculture out of business as it has with their dairy and egg industry. Or maybe they can just expect to pay 10% to 20% more of their incomes on food to offset this. They will also have trouble powering agriculture with green energy. Solar powered tractors don't really exist right now.

California will have to import their food from us, and we will make them pay for it.

We can. It's the progressives who don't have the brainpower to compromise. It's like negotiating with terrorists. They have beliefs that equate to a religious mindset. There is no negotiating with these people. They are too far gone.

Let them go. anything we import can come through the panama canal. refuse to let them send their imports across the border to the interior of america. cut off their water from any state across the border line. Refuse to accept any migration out of their state. Consider Californians as undesirables and refuse to give them visas to travel into the usa. Make america a no fly zone for all flights leaving california. Basically take away their farming and their largest customer base.
