TX was targeted in 2008. When it goes blue, the US goes socialist.

High minority turnout as well as massive invasion of hipsters and trustfund SJW's over the last few years in Houston. We lost every single countywide race in Harris County, which is the largest in Texas.

Fortunately, the low-information liberals have only been turning out high in presidential cycles so we still do all right in off-years when the governor is elected, for now.

So 16 years ago the dems almost won FL but this year after all the influx of voters they lost it by more.

Post again when they actually win a statewide office

Not a good trend.

Trump is not a Texas republican. He is a WI, MI, OH, Penn, & Iowa one though, which is nice

Also 8 years of unincentivising illegals/anchor babies/government handouts and you'll see a shift back more to the right.

The whole "trending" idea is overplayed. Are places like Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Michigan now "trending" GOP?

Many companies are/have been moving to Texas for past 25 years. Toyota moving HDQ to Plano from California. FedEx, and others also moving to Plano. This means a lot of people relocating to Texas. Many people have been coming from California for decades to take advantage of no state taxes and much cheaper housing market.

Now that California wants to become its own country, maybe they will all go back

That's what I was just getting ready to say. Trump won Ohio by 500k votes. So does this mean that Trump has shown the GOP a path to victory by speaking to Rust Belt voters in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin?

The courts overturned the ID law for this election. Gov Abbott will get this straightened out.

What do you mean by "slowly overrun".... Hispanics are 40% of Texas and will be larger than whites soon. A sizable number voted Trump, likely due to strong family values and being Catholic.

Go stick your own head back in the sand. We're doing alright and most people here red or blue appreciate our diverse culture.

If the national exit polls are to be believed, Trump did a bit better with blacks and Latinos than Romney, yet Texas was much closer. Was that the white vote in TX or did TX Latinos vote more for Clinton than the Hispanic national average? Anyone have exit polls specific to TX?

Reason #1 that illegal immigration needs to be brought to a screeching halt. Hell, the President pretty much said that illegals shouldn't be afraid to register to vote last week. Tells you all you need to know.

All that crying about Russia interfering in our elections, yet illegals from every country have been doing it for years.

Let's talk about hispanics in Texas. And specifically mexicans.

I know very well several ilegals who have been here for decades. They are all hard working, conservatives in their lives, and not looking for a handout. They just want to be legal. Many have children who have been born here.

When I saw Dora yesterday, I told her I was glad she didn't get deported on the way. She started laughing. Her family is all legal (siblings, children). She said they are all pissed about Obamacare. None of them she said trusted Hillary. They were going to be voting some for Trump, and some for Hillary because the perception of xenophobia and racism. She says deportations have been UP since Obama took office. She says in her personal life everyone is disappointed Obama promised to fix immigration and he didn't when he could. But she says when you watch TV, all is negative towards Republicans. There is a lot of misinformation constantly spread about politics. She was pissed at Trumps language, and the whole "criminals and rapists". This is mainly the reason she says, many were so against Trump.

Tejanos (people who have been in Texas, have a Spanish last name, don't know Spanish, and have been here for generations) are mostly conservative and not really for ilegal immigration. They do, however, have a perception of racism against them from Trump and some republicans, even though they tend to vote republican.

This is a voting block that at least here in Texas, can become solidly republican. IF the attitude changes, and IF they fix the ilegals quandry- these are people who build their lives here. This is an opportunity for republicans. I hope they don't squander it with the whole build the wall and mexico is going to pay for it. For those of you who favor the wall, you need to spend some time down there in Laredo, Brownsville, etc. This problem is very complex. YOU HAVE TO CONTROL THE BORDER, but building a wall isn't the answer. You have to let hard working people be able to come back and forth between Mexico and Texas. It is their way of life, and it benefits America. Listen and try to understand this is a complex problem. To deport people who are hard working, law abiding, and good immigrants in this country would be a horrible mistake.

I was amazed at the amount of white working millenials that supported Trunp here in TX. I'm on business and it seemed like 30% of the millenials I ran into at work yesterday were sad and I work in O&G. Pretty pathetic.

No exit polls, but I was just looking at a precinct by precinct map of Harris County (Houston) and a ton of uppity white neighborhoods in the city went solidly blue. Not talking about the suburbs, but the "HOLY CRAP how did my old neighborhood suddenly get so expensive" parts of the city.

I think once Trump gets sworn in and starts enforcing the immigration laws he will find a willing partner in Texas law enforcement. Those demographics will change. And then I believe Trump must assert to the states and to Congress that the federal government has the right to ensure ensure the integrity of our elections, not just leaving it up to the states.
