Playing in my first company golf tournament in the next month and I was just wondering what I have to look forward to as far as food and drink vendors. People are telling me to get ready to drink and have good time and I obviously want to but not so much that I make a fool of myself in front of my boss and higher ups...

Frick the beer cart girl in the cart barn. Then they will have to respect you.

ETA: Work on your putting. Someone is gonna have to hit a put in the scramble. I drink 10 beers when i play, minimum.

How do some of you people make it in everyday life without the OT?

You would think majority of y'all completely lack any social skills from reading this board.

My serious response: Yeah, it'll probably be open bar with a calcutta the night before the tournament. Try not to get a hangover and mess up your game.

My OT Response: Riding the bull, feeling the flow... All good things.

And you expect us to give you a decent answer? What kind/size of company is this? Where is the tournament? C'mon man, the question you asked, in the way it was posed was just dumb. And the last sentence of your post was your answer. Those people obviously know what to expect. Why the frick would you ask a bunch of smartass strangers?

Here's my answer: Bring an 8-ball

Depends on if it's a Monday or a Friday tournament. In my experience, this means everything.

I am sure this varies greatly from company to company...we used to have free alcohol and snacks but that isn't the case now

You'll show up, get a diddy bag usually with some tees, cheap golf balls, a towel and sunscreen

then you'll play a 6 hour scramble and get free beer and the same canes/sandwiches/jambalaya/fried fish on every other tee box

after the round, your team will lose to a pencil whipper... then youll go home

wear a golf shirt and shorts

Every one I've played in had free beer. I was always hammered before I ever tee'd off on the first hole. Good times

Insider tips:

1. Putt with a glove on. Upper management will be impressed.

2. Yell "Baba Booey" as loudly as possible after each one of your teammates tees off.

3. Partake in some night putting with CEO's daughter.

If your company has a tourney that's worth a dam and attracts vendors there will be more food and drink than you can imagine

I'm playing in two in the next couple weeks. Just leave the cart girl to your baw and don't move my long drive marker.

to be fair, what kind of responses did you expect?

of course its going to be fun, there's free food, free alcohol, and free golf

those are 3 of my favorite things when they're NOT free, when they are free its like christmas day

but the poster above is right about putting

if you suck at golf, you're not going to start driving it 300 or landing approach shots 3 feet from the hole in one month no matter how much you practice, but you can improve your putting if you work at it at home everyday between now and then
