I don't care about the offense or what they are doing to get better in the passing game. All I care about is LSU's defense becoming elite again. Defense wins championships!!

Elite Defense.

Even FSUs Elite offenses and the Oregon's Ect sputtered against good defenses

we have to acknowledge that in the NFL there have been teams with very good defense and offense.

i personally feel best when the defense is spectacular. stuff them.
shut them down. take back punts. easy FGs.

I love great defenses and suffocating other teams. But college football has changed. You have to have a very good offense to win. Teams WILL score on you, even with an elite defense.

As stated above, bamas def last year was too notch, and clemson score 35points or so.

Also, even though our 2011defense was elite, we still needed elite special teams to win games. You've got to have at least 2 out of 3.

This.

What's the common thread for nearly every championship team in the last 20 years? Elite defense.

Defense every time. Elite defense can score points as well as lead to the offense scoring points. Elite offense doesn't keep the other team from scoring and some times actually leads to other teams scoring more and putting the defense under stress by moving too quickly when in possession.

Much better to be the team that regularly smothers and demoralizes your opponent than to be the team that is shocked and going against momentum when a team is hanging with you unexpectedly.

To me it seems having an elite defense is more reliable. Defense travels and has a lesser drop off in inclement weather. If you have an elite defense then you have a shot in every game. Offense is a lot about timing which can easily be thrown off in certain situations.

The Broncos SB last year is your answer.
