Why don't people that want to commit suicide just go sky diving?

I bet you that most people that jump off a bridge are like " Oh frick ! What have I done ? " about halfway down.
If they just go skydiving I think that most of them would pull the cord before they hit the ground.
If they are really committed they can just hit the ground, but at least they will know for sure.
Thoughts?
ETA: Obviously this is a thought for people that are planning their own suicide. Not impulse suicide victims.
ETA #2: I think that in the OP I should have stressed more the fact that skydiving could have a great therapeutic effect as an activity. Especially if they have to go through classes and multiple tandem jumps. Couple that with the new perspective they may receive being involved in an activity that brings them so close to death, by the time they are ready to jump by themselves, suicide might not even be an option.

The first few times you go sky diving you have to go tandem. That's a lot of time training to get certified to jump by yourself just to kill yourself.

Why are you thinking about people dying?

If I wanted to kill myself, I’d fricking kill myself.
Swallow 50 oxys and some anti-coagulants , jump off a tall building, and shoot myself in the head on the way down.

Is that a picture of your home tank, or from diving somewhere?

I'd be interested to see the statistics on how many people who attempted suicide and failed, tried it again later in life. I've read stories of people who survived the golden gate jump who said they regretted the decision instantly and wanted to stop the fall.

My thoughts are you don't have a clue. When someone is so depressed at the particular time they are, they are not thinking about "let me go skydiving". I am not sure if this thread is meant to be funny or what, but.. whatever.

You're a fricking idiot.
And I say that in all sincerity having lived with and lost someone to mental disorder and depression.

I would rather follow in Nick Cage's footsteps and leave Las Vegas with a hooker, blow, and alcohol.

One of the few people who survived jumping from the Golden Gate Bridge *immediately* thought that. It definitely happens.
OTOH there are some people who jump off a tall building, survive, and then try again. I personally know of such a case. He survived a 6 story fall the first time, and the day after he was released from the hospital found a 10 story building and finished the job.
