So, what are the major takeaways from E3?

I was out of the country the whole time, did anything of substance come out besides them trying to frick the masses with upgraded consoles and the like?

IW campaign looks like a jumbled mess that I'll never play. Probably didn't need me or E3 to tell you that though.

That there were a surprisingly few amount of games that I am actually excited about coming out any time soon.

After brushing up on news, the big takeaway is that companies are tired of software companies making too much, so it's time to destroy "generations" in the form of creating interim consoles with better specs. We're going to start buying consoles every 4 years instead of every 5, which is huge imo.

As a pc gamer, bring on the upgraded consoles.
I remember how miserable it was when Xbox 360 and ps3 lasted years outside of their viability and it affected games across the entire industry.

On the games side - Yawn. I wanted to hear more about ME4 with a real trailer.
Console side - Scorpio is interesting but I don't for a second believe the over the top hype / expectations for VR / 4k.

I haven't seen much from this years E3. I did watch the trailer for Horizon Zero Dawn and it looked pretty sweet

Horizon Zero Dawn looks amazing
Zelda looks amazing -- but will it get me to buy a new console? No
