Does this particular image help illustrate my point? While laying flat on the ground Glenn's abdomen is in a pretty weird spot in relation to his head.

frick the writers, I hope they die soon. There's foreshadowing for almost every character to get their head bashed in, of course it will be easily explainable in hindsight. Seriously frick their shitty writing on this shitty arse show. I think more compelling shite happens on Days of our Lives.
The Walking Soap Opera is never gonna end. This show is so small minded; it's driven purely on emotion and moral polarization.
It's crazy to me that the characters never discuss any direction for their society and how they fit in the larger area.
Case in point is how unprepared they were for the Saviors blocking their way that led to them being captured. They got herded like cattle in their own backyard. fricking amateur hour.
Rick's group is oblivious to its surroundings. All they care about on this show is if the characters are sad about another having personal issues.
The writing is so shitty that we have posters in here arguing over how shitty it is (the misdirection in Glenn's dumpster death).

The show has been great for most of it's run so far (season 3 is a major, obvious exception). This last half-season was some of the best TV going. That finale was just awful, though.
The herding was part of the problem. That wasn't a believable sequence at all.

The show now has to cater towards a larger, dumber audience. It can't be too intellectual or thought provoking beyond the weekly soap opera zombie infested countryside. The deeper shows we all love aren't for idiots like TWD has become.
appeal to the masses, if you will.

Unfortunately, you are correct. It has been a long, long time since I read any of the comics. Wasn't the ZA basically just a back drop and the real story was the human interactions?

Seeing the look of complete disbelief, shock, and hopelessness on Rick's face was very powerful. Kudos to Andrew Lincoln.
I'm really looking forward to the new season now more than ever. Rick learned he isn't "the man" anymore.
The look of shame Rick gave Carl when Trevor told him to drop to his knees was phenomenal. Such a powerful scene. Then the look Maggie gave Rick when he complied along with the score that made the loud booming sound as each knee hit the ground. Just a great scene all around except for that fricking cliffhanger.

LOL at all the folks saying they're done. I mean sure, this bitch may have left you with a raging case of blue-balls, but when she calls you up next October you're still gonna go out with her again

Just watched the episode last night. You hear a woman scream, so it's not maggie or rosita. That being said, it has to be either Glenn or Abraham. Seeing as Rosita isn't very emotional, and Maggie is a bag of emotions, i vote Glenn. And as others said, he is the only "good guy" really on the show.
And, as i think about it, there has been a lot of lead up for carl's girlfriend taking care of Maggie, and giving her a purpose. Even Glenn was giving her a purpose with the balloon, escaping episode.
I liked the episode personally. But i've liked most episodes. I try to put myself in the characters positions. I kept trying to do that with Rick, trying to figure out how he would get out of the situation. There was no options other than attacking negan and hoping to bite his jugular before his compatriots would take him down. But that would also assure the deaths of the rest of his crew.

You pretty much nailed it.

Only thing I will disagree on. They haven't said much about how long it has been since they arrived in that NE, but I can't imagine it has been longer than the Saviours. They are still learning the area, hence the need for the map and nobody knowing what direction to take.

That's the only reason for the cliffhanger, IMO, and doesn't make it any better.
That would make it even worse.
IMO, they did it because they couldn't decide who to kill off and ran out of time.

It's weird because logically it should be Eugene based on the farewell he was given by Rick and Abraham. Even the end where Negan says "you took it like a champ" or whatever he says, that makes me think of the scene with Abraham and Eugene where he finally tells Eugene that he does respect him and he is tough.
But on the other hand, the POV scenes from inside the van and then at the end would lead us to believe that is the same person, and that person would be Glen.
But TWD loves misdirection so who knows.
Posted on 4/6/16 at 12:42 pm to LSUZombie
I'm of the same thought. Eugene said his goodbyes and gave Rick the plans for making bullets. All that seems to point to his death. Not only that, but a video was posted in the other thread showing that during the last shot on Ricks face you can see Negan's shadow moving across Ricks face to his right side. That shot is right before Negan gets to "It." That leaves Eugene or Carl (if it is definitely a male) and we know it's not going to be Carl.
But, in the other hand, it seems like the POV shots from inside the van should be from the same POV as the person who meets Lucille. That would indicate either Glenn or Darryl.
Either way, one of these clues is misleading, which is frustrating. But, I think it's definitely one of these two.

Or Michonne, if they have been watching the group he knows carl and Rick are close to her and he mentions them by name right before.
Also, talk about truly humbling Rick.

according to greg nicotero, they've not yet filmed the actual beating
quote:
We have not filmed it, yet and I don’t know if the person knows yet or not. Knowing the fact that any death changes our characters and changes our people in a very dramatic way, what’s exciting about season seven is how a death — any death — changes people and propels us in a different direction. While we were shooting this episode, I’d never seen the cast more energized and more excited about the future of the show. The fact that the world is our oyster right now is exciting times for The Walking Dead. We’re changing the direction of the show and bringing Negan in — it’s a great time. Everyone is so excited to get back to work [in May] to get where we’re going.

Or Michonne,
It would definitely be Glenn if that was a clue. Someone brightened/contrasted frames from inside the van and in one shot, you see Darryl, while another shows Michonne and Rosita.

Will be interesting to see how they adapt to "working" for Negan and begin to even believe they can be back "on top" again.
Knowing what they know, I don't know how you make the decision to stay in the area. Negan is as much a reason to relocate as any.
Go West.

quote:I am assuming they failed to realize how large and organized the group is... Only indication that tipped Negan's hand is the group that had Maggie and Carol after they thought they finished off the Saviors/the guy who Rick killed. I think them overcoming that obstacle is really where Rick's group's false sense of security was solidified.
Is it just me, or did the Hilltop folks really fail to mention how large Negan's group was?

Why are they all of a sudden acting like people in the main cast haven't been dying all along?

Just watching now.
So tired of how fricking stupid these people are again and again. I guess it's harder writing a show where the protagonists are intelligent and hence harder to get into shite, but for fricks sake.
Not only stupid, they (moreso Rick) are also so arrogant.
And WTF happened to that rocket launcher they has earlier? Did it only have the one round? Probably has five but they left it at home.
