California should just be its own country

Keep it up California. You're already North Mexico.

Just another reason I don't go to California. How much will a Big Mac cost now?

Cue the inflation and automation.

Isnt minimum wage already pretty high in Cali because of cost of living?

Won't this shite cause issues across the nation as well though to. Won't this cause online shopping prices to raise

Higher than the national average yes, but it's all relative to cost of living. $15 in urban parts of Cali would be like $10 in Louisiana. It's really not that outrageous.

Wow. That's an insane number that earn less the $15 per hour. So instead of going out and getting a degree or learning a trade they just simply complain until they get more money for working at a fast food restaurant. Nice.

Look at the bright side, maybe all the minimum wage earners in Louisiana will just move to Cali.

Under California’s plan, its minimum wage, currently one of the highest in the nation at $10 an hour, would rise to $10.50 in 2017, $11 in 2018 and a dollar each year through 2022.
$2k+ a year raise for every FTE employee. Amazingly dumb.

If cost of living is that high in California then whatever do what yall want. Just don't try and push that thinking on other states.

I doubt this is accurate, but if so, holy shite thats a lot of money thats going to be passed to unskilled workers.

Good. The San Fran rent threads are pretty high in entertainment value.

It's not just fast food workers that make that kind of money. I get contacted almost weekly by recruiters for jobs that are available. Today's was one that paid $16 an hour. I have Master's Degree with 10+ years in a related field. That's an insanely low wage for my qualifications. I declined to interview.
A friend, who is an interior designer, finds jobs offering $12-$15 an hour for people with degrees and experience.
The cost of living is outrageous out here. The economy is also crappy so employers know they can get top talent for low wages. Great for them now, but those people will leave when a better opportunity arises. And it's not always as simple as just pack up and move to another city, state, etc. Most people can't leave without a job and some people have families and are established out here.
I still don't think the government should be interfering. But don't think it's a bunch of unskilled, uneducated people demanding to be paid more. It goes beyond that.

It's their state. They can do what they want. Just don't stuff it down our throat.

All the Louisiana oil turds that got laid off can come flip In N Out burgers for $15 an hour

Will businesses with large amounts of minimum wage workers not just move to a neighboring state?
Posted on 3/31/16 at 2:36 pm to xxKylexx
I say raise the min wage everywhere and get rid of about 98 percent of our welfare programs.
