Gays are great for the economy.
No group can gentrify shitty neighborhoods better than the gays. They also earn higher wages on average and spend their money a lot in the economy.

I know you were kidding, but I just felt like adding that
In Nashville, the real estate investors watch where the gays are moving to know where the next "hip" neighborhood will be. Those people are fearless when it comes to moving into the hood.

It will be a bad thing. A very very bad thing.

The fast food industry is already looking into kiosk. I've seen a Hardees with one before.

Unfortunately this is very true.

The definition of living wage today is also much different than it was 70 years ago because technology has changed so much.
The Chicken in every pot speech was sort of avant-garde for it's time. What we have leaned over the better part of a century is throwing money at a problem, does not work. All the money in the world will not fix community leadership issues.
Nobody is going into impoverished neighborhoods and trying to educate the children, we would rather opt for the easy way out and just write a check. I'm guilty of it, you're guilty of it, and our government is failing us because there is money to be made with influence.

Wow - teenage and young minority employment will just become a thing of the past in California in just a few short years.

Do we know for certain it will effect a class of workers who aren't full time. Surely they aren't bold enough to force the $15/hr minimum across the board onto kids flipping burgers 15 hours a week.

Hey, look at us agreeing with each other over here!

say raise the min wage everywhere and get rid of about 98 percent of our welfare programs.
Lol, people don't want to work. raising wages aren't going to magically get people to get off their arse and go make a living.
Why would it make people work harder? The people currently at minimum wage are not going to give more effort when raising minimum wage. They will continue to do as little as possible to get by.

I agree with you on a large of things. Even the minimum wage to a certain extent. Where we differ is on the implementation and how the law is written. It should never be a federal law.
One thing I'd like to see with all this is businesses paying their full time employees enough money to live in their specific area. Someone working for you for 40 hours a week, shouldn't have to also work somewhere else another 40 out of necessity. You should take care of your full time workers, or you shouldn't have them at all. I think our current arrangement allows the survival of a lot of businesses that otherwise wouldn't make it without more owner involvement.

We are more alike than I could have ever imagined.

That's not exclusive to fast food. I had a guy under me who wanted to move up, but would literally vape hash oil on his fricking breaks. And this dude was like 25.

They'll be sorry because apparently (as I've been repeatedly assured by many) this will destroy their economy. It should be interesting to watch smart states like Louisiana, who maintain the federal minimum and not a penny more, skyrocket past silly California economically.
Looks like cutting the film tax credits was a clever move. When California is completely deserted due to the destruction of their entire economy, they'll have to keep filming here.

There aren't as many $7.25/hr positions out there as you probably imagine. Even burger king pays more than minimum wage for the most part. It's very hard to staff a business with $7.25/hr employees unless they are teenagers or in an area that does not require transportation.

I disagree. The jobs just won't be there. They'll hire fewer, older people or go automation if they have to.
When something is plentiful, it must be cheap. If it is plentiful and expensive, there will be no market for it, unless it is something of inelastic demand.

Those idiots just further incentivized the private sector to replace the labor any way they can whether it be illegals or automation with machines.

While I agree in principle with my libertarian Bros on this issue, one fact we're ignoring is that a very large percentage of min wage workers are on Government Assistance and also get EITC's to the tune of 1000's of dollars/yr. companies like Wal Mart, I'm told, even hold seminars for thier employees to teach them how to get government benefits.
So while I'm inclined to agree with not raising the min wage, we, as tax payers, are already subsidizing min wages and probably more than to the equivalent of $15.00/hr.
While I have achieved OT Baller status personally, I still don't have Walton Family money, so it'd be great if they could take care of paying thier workers instead of you and I having to do it for them.
(I realize we shouldn't have government assistance, but we do, and it's not going away under the current political climate)
