quote:No they don't. That's when they were offering reduced prices on phones for 2 year contracts. Now, you will pay the full price of the phone over the Next Plan's installments. My iPhone 6S Plus was $850. Your second newest phone will likely probably still be around the $400-$650 range I'd imagine.
Heard about this last week. I just told myself whatever the second newest phone that is out will be my choice. Once the new phone comes out the others drop to $99 or so

This is false - time value of money means that paying in 25$ a month in today's dollars is financing a cell phone that I'm capable of buying outright in tomorrows dollars and I get to keep the interest I earn/buying power.
Oh jesus...

Well what's the DTV & u-verse deal?
Unlimited data*, talk, and text for $100/month for one line, $140 for two lines, or $180 for 3+ lines.
*May throttle after 22GB

I'm with Verizon, I'm happy with it.
Still a penny pincher I see

I don't know why I continue to be amazed at some of these people's views, but god damn

I need to get on this unlimited deal with dtv/uverse.
Ignoring all phone installments and any govt taxes i think i pay
$100 for 15 gigs
$15 for line 1
$15 for line 2
$15 for line 3
$15 for line 4
$10 for tablet with data (dont get me started on why we have this)
That's $170. If the unlimited plan is really $60 plus $40 per phone but free for lines 4 and up that's only $180.
Only a $10 increase for unlimited data versus 15 gigs split over 4 lines (we are really struggling to stay under the 15 gigs each month).

Unfortunately, no.

Jump on the next plan and pay $25 extra on top of my bill for the next 30 months, that's 2 1/2 years, if I want a new phone.
That's it, no other options.
If I'm not mistaken, there is one other option. You can simply pay full price for the phone right now. In the 2-year contract era, the price of the phone was greatly discounted in exchange for your obligation to pay for 2 years of service. Under the Next plan, you are paying full price for the phone, but on credit in monthly installments. Also, I think they also reduce your monthly rate to offset some of the additional amount you are paying for the phone, so that at the end of the 30 months, assuming you don't get another new phone, your total payment will actually be less than it was under your 2-year contract. But, if you don't want to do that, I don't think there is any restriction keeping you from buying a phone for full price now and using it with your AT&T service. AT&T will charge you a fortune for it, I'm sure, but if you can get one cheaper some other way, you should be able to use it.

I live in metro area of ~500,000 people and TMobile always has solid LTE service for me.
I pay $55/mo for unlimited everything with not speed throttling to 15gb data
If you are in a big city, TMobile is awesome. If you go to the boonies it is hit or miss and have to look at your service map

I'm starting to wrap my mind around all of it.
I need to get my screen fixed and transfer all my pictures and videos back to my computer. Then delete a bunch of music I don't listen to.
That or just buy a new phone.

Your actual plan is cheaper on the next plan vs the subsidized 2-year plan. Either way, you are still essentially financing the phone. Either pay $200 every 2 years to upgrade and a higher monthly plan or pay a lower plan then finance the cost of the phone interest-free for 18 or 24 months.

Just buy your phone, poors. You can resale it in a year on eBay, and basically upgrade every year for the difference you sell for.

Went through the first 3 pages and have a headache, but my wife and I like to upgrade every two years but we get the latest (meaning not the newest) version iPhone that is usually a buck. Will this new plan screw us?

If you are out of contract switch to Verizon.
