People say Dabo will get AL job
It may change if Clemson wins the NC this year, but many Bama fans I know love Dabo but still don't think he's a great head coach.
As far as DA and the few others who posted the Jimbo stuff, I personally think they were being fed made-up shite by someone in order to build sentiment for Les being fired. Many fans supported this with the possibility of a home run hire.

Media def blew it's load over LSU/Jimbo. Sexton is the best at using rumors as leverage to get coaches new contracts. He did it with Tubs to the point it was part of the reason his arse got canned. Can't demand a pay raise every offseason & then get beat 36-0 by your rival.

I guess Jimbo wanted to leave FSU so badly he didn't even want to give FSU a shot to match.
Pretty much, yeah

Here's how I imagine all of this went down:
Once the preliminary "would you" from LSU people still friends with Jimbo & "anythings possible" from Jimbo is over with, either Alleva or an LSU rep calls Sexton & he doesn't answer. After spreading rumors in the media for a few days, Sexton calls.
LSU: "How much for Jimbo?"
Sexton: "It will take a lot. He really loves it at FSU. What ball park are you guys in?"
LSU: "We could offer x,y &z."
Sexton: "Well that's all good but we would need something closer to Saban money."
LSU: "Like how close."
Sexton: "Very close."
LSU: " You've lost your fricking mind."
At this point a media firestorm is engulfing Baton Rouge & the rest is history.

Jimbo has it easy at FSU, the only competition is Clemson. Would be stupid to consider a jump to the SEC.

I really haven't seen a shred of credible evidence that Fisher talked to LSU
Even if fisher had flirted with LSU it was just to get a raise and stay at FSU. Thats just standard operating procedure for J$ and his clients. How many times has bama gotten played by this tired old game?
It is my contention that all these big time posters DALSU etc. are 104.5 radio callin hosts or their staff just trying to create a sensation and have more callers to their shows. If you listened to these shows over the last few weeks its clearly obvious that this was the case.

No doubt there were embellishments taking place.
But, it was a get out of Dodge kinda deal. No real bidding war. Our futility vs the top 2, then 3 teams in our division, in succession by double digit margins, along w the obvious lack of offensive coordination and communication, messed up the timing of this move.
Would have happened next year after the inevitable same results on the field. Saban is the X factor, IMO. Sexton is probably the only person that knows where he stands, which benefits Jimbo.
Alleva had the best interests of the program in mind moving on this now, in more ways than one. Has to be a hell of a feeling to raise the kind of support he did, have it ready, willing, and able, knowing the end will justify the means, only to be internally aborted.
Everyone has their smiley faces on and will spin it like they need to, but history will show that it set the program back as much as the Bo Rein plane crash.

Jimbo is going to be the coach at one of the big SECW schools eventually. It's just a question of when and where.

Why would you? It has already been established that you are blinded by your situation. So now you'll just respond with a laughing emoticon. You have "inside info" but have no links yet you find it impossible to believe others do and demand links. You see the problem?

I have zero responsibility to prove that Jimbo wasn't in serious talks with FSU. LSU fans keep saying he was, yet have provided zero evidence -- other than "sources," which were previously very wrong.

Reading comprehension; you missed the point. You're a hypocrite for saying you've heard things that you know to be the case but can't provide links. Shoe was on the other foot this time and you dismissed it. In the end it was a moot point since the University President quashed the firing. Nothing will ever be proven either way.
Posted on 12/7/15 at 3:36 pm to TheOcean
Didn't happen so who cares?
I, for one, didn't want Jimbo anyway.

Hence why posters look stupid when claiming Jimbo had his bags packed. Especially when there was zero smoke coming from Tallahassee -- and many of the "sources" on this board were completely wrong.

It's your arrogance about the situation. This was a leave during the night kind of deal. There's a reason why the FSU side was in the dark. It's just ashame LSU killed it....for so many reasons.

Likewise to prove they didn't. But you are kidding yourself if you think this was not a serious run at your coach. All the things you have quoted in your OP are the damage control talking points.
The origin of this coup attempt is that Jimbo is still to this day friends with big money and political people in LSU system. Tiger Athletic Foundation, TAF, calls the "money shots" with regard to most of the athletic issues. Don't ask me why but Jimbo has told multiple people over here since he was at FSU that he loved it in BTR and he would not mind returning.
This essentially was a high level wink and a nod attempt deal that had one purpose and one only. Get Jimbo. The signals for that had to have come from him or his agent for LSU to enter into the Miles disposal plan. The folks handling that botched it so badly that both sides walked away from it.
The good news for you is that I don't think LSU comes back for him next year although I think we could likely be looking for a coach.

Is there a possibility that the FSU side had no idea at the time? Sure. Probable? Not likely. Is it probable that no one from the FSU side knew about the deal after it didn't go down? Extremely unlikely.
