Bunch of these in Ascension Parish

I saw a lot Bama bumper stickers and car flags last year and the year they won it all.

I'm sure I'll see em this week too.

But to say you're from Louisiana and root for Alabama over LSU because Saban coaches the Tide?
I say one way to answer the question of is it anti-LSU people (aka ULL) or Saban love driving this is to see if there are a bunch of Bama fans (who may have been LSU fans at one point) in Lansing MI.

I'm betting there aren't many up there. Hence a lot of anti-LSU sentiment as the driver here. Which means the person who said if Ole Miss had won what Bama has, there'd be a lot of those is dead on.

Sorry, but if someone pulls for Alabama and uses the Saban excuse I tend to have very little respect for that person and question their judgement

and it's total bullshite. The "saban fan" argument is a convenient excuse. If Saban landed at a Big 10 school, there would be very few bandwagon fans of that school down here. No matter what their success is.

Just like this Florida poll smoker desperately needed to jump on a winner that was beating LSU when he was a kid, his dad is the same way.

if a team has to be good to generate local sales then that means the fanbase is majority bandwagon (only supporting a winning product).

I was never an LSU fan who was converted to a Gator fan...

I became a UF fan around 97. I saw LSU beat UF in Tiger Stadium in 97. Then in 99 a friend of the family was on a basketball recruiting visit to LSU and I went to that game where Bo Carroll had the kickoff return. Got soaked but enjoyed it.

I don't really engage in the childish insults. Won't get a reaction.

Just giving you my perspective on growing up in Louisiana as a non-LSU fan. Which is what the article is about.

But the article takes more offense to Bama fans who are only Bama fans because of Saban. I ask why that matters?

Do you honestly think UF fans didn't root for Spurrier when he came back from a failed stint as an NFL HC, to coach an SEC school in our same division?

My wife's cousin is marrying one of these contrarians. "Hates" LSU. Why? Because everyone else loves them. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. It's quite pathetic really.

I don't know that there were a lot of UF fans here in the 90s but I do know I was here. Still am. UF dominated LSU in football when I grew up. Therefore I became, have been, and still am a UF fan.
You're from La. and this is why you are a Florida fan? Seriously?

How many bad teams in any sport at any level routinely sell out?

I can only think of one. Green Bay. But its also unique in the way the fans are treated as well.

It's not fair or accurate to use the Saints as a point in this discussion. That is a completely different animal. The reason that people rallied around the Saints is because of Katrina and not necessarily winning a Super Bowl. The Super Bowl was icing on the cake.

The ones I know did not. They are Florida fans. Not SC fans

why would they?

I love Les Miles, but if he left to go coach Arkansas next year I would wish for him to lose every single game.

Now if he left to go somewhere OOC, that would be something different, but to root for a coach within your conference? no...not happening

This is correct. I live in Laffy now and this is an accurate statement.
