Georgetown, UCLA, Michigan. Used to see this all the time at Cortana Mall in the early to mid 90's. Rarely you saw LSU stuff. Miami, Notre Dame and FSU were the dominant force in terms of merchandise back then.

Is that why the Walmart FUBU LSU jersey sales are down?
People in China are crying.

When someone in LA tells me they are a fan of Alabama, I just tell them to enjoy the Merry-go-round. When pressed further, I tell them Alabama has earned my respect as a factory that can keep putting out the same consistent boring product every year, like seeing the same views as they ride a Merry-go-round and in the end, they have experienced just what they thought they would.
Being a fan of LSU football is like riding a bad-arse roller-coaster, with the high speed ups and downs, upside down loops, and turns that make you want to lose your lunch and scream like a little kid . . . then after you survive the ride, you run to get back in line and can't wait to experience it all over again!

Way back in my day where I'm from in way-down-SW-Louisiana, I saw some folks lean to aTm (cross-pollinated or transplanted Texans).
Heck, back then in those parts we even used to pick up the Grant Teaff show broadcast out of Waco so I even remember some died-in-the-wool Southern Baptists rooting for Baylor.
I guess I can see some northwest Louisiana folks having a rooting interest in ARKY. I guess I can see some eastern-border folks having an interest in the MS schools (Ole Piss, for God's sake!).
But I never, never, never in all my born days could have or would have imagined even a minuscule subset of Louisiana natives publicly declaring any kind of allegiance to the red team - that would have been and is just plain blasphemy.

I was in Monroe last year for the Bama/LSU game and I saw just as many Bama tshirts/hats as I did LSU.
You either encountered whites trash or black fans. That's the 2 types of Bama fans I've seen in Monroe.

They're called SHEEple...and if you worry about them...so are you!

Well I don't know if these people are "pretend" Bama fans or not but you know, and this may come as a surprise to many on this board, you're not obliged to root for or against a team based on your geographic location.

I'm just saying, it's great to be an avid LSU fan from Louisiana but not everybody has to be the same way. The worst thing I see is when top prospects themselves from Louisiana or other states who decide to commit to out of state schools get berated by fans who call the player a "traitor" as if they owed anything to that school or the fans.

Can someone post pics of this "epidemic"? If it's as rampant as Doucet thinks, there should be people all over Lafayette and Baton Rouge decked out in Bama gear.
I haven't seen any.

I rarely see Bama gear in Lafayette. And, it's usually those douchebag frat boys who wear them because Bama is successful.I do know several people here who like to delude themselves into believing that ULL will one day overtake LSU and become the new standard when it comes to college football in Louisiana ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

I can think of few things more NF than wearing Bama gear having never attended a single class at Bama.

Ehh. My girlfriend's a Bama "fan". Can't name a single player. I don't even think she knows who Saban is
. But her brothers a die hard Bama fan because their grandparents are from Bama (no one in the family is inbred). So I give her somewhat of a pass. We will go to LSU-Bama game next season though and I'm sure that'll convert her to the good side

They're like the walking dead. Not kidding. Bunch of born with the wrong values and upbringinging. What could they possibly do in life. Oh well...

Looking back at my yearbook from middle school (early to mid 90's) the preponderance of kids wore Miami, Notre Dame and FSU gear. Very little to none for LSU and this was a school in Baton Rouge.
That was the class from the short bus. Imagine that at one of the regular schools.

I blame Steely Dan.

I could not understand that lyric when I was younger, so I was spared.

quote:You'd win that bet. I have an uncle that is faculty up there, and from visiting with him and his family, you can tell the general attitude towards Saban was good riddance when he left, followed by general indifference afterwards.
I say one way to answer the question of is it anti-LSU people (aka ULL) or Saban love driving this is to see if there are a bunch of Bama fans (who may have been LSU fans at one point) in Lansing MI.
I'm betting there aren't many up there
Funny sidenote to the "popular teams/sidewalk fans" issue; I was a Yankees fan growing up. I was so because we moved from New York when I was 3, so during the Reggie Jackson era of the 70's, my mind made the connection that we were from there, and so I rooted for them. Later, visiting my grandparents, I learned that Gramps was an Indians fan, because he lived in Buffalo, and Cleveland was a lot closer than NYC (same reason there are lots more Saints fans in Pensacola than Dolphins fans).
