I live in North BAMA. A lot of their real fan bass will pull for Aub if they are winning instead of Bama! When they lose U don't hear 1 Roll tide until they beat some team like ULM.Then the get load. Oh right Saban is 1&1 with ULM.

There was a time when I just couldn't imagine someone being born and raised in Louisiana and not being an LSU fan. Like the article mentions, I know people who went to Tech, ULM, SLU etc. and they all pull for LSU. Personally, I pull for every Louisiana school when they aren't playing LSU. But I've come to accept, again like the article mentions, that some people just want to pull for whoever seems dominant (Yankees, Lakers, Patriots etc.). I'm no psychologist or anything but I think those people need to do that in order to feel like winners themselves.

That is nothing new.

When I was in high school in BR there were LSU fans and then a hodge-podge of Miami, Nebraska and FSU fans because those were the hot teams then. There's always going to be that contingent of people that don't want to assimilate with the majority. It's not a Bama-specific thing.

Two things make this a little different......Nick Saban and Social Media

Why do we care?? We fill a 100,00+ , have won 150+ games since 2000, and have played in 3 NCGs.

That's pretty damn high cotton for any college football program and something can only be matched by less than a handful of schools in that time period.

We as LSU fans sometimes seem to worry too much bout nonsense like this.

1. Contrarians who just like to piss off the overwhelming majority (in this case, LSU fans). If you were aware in the 90's, there were a lot of Florida fans in and around Louisiana. That leads to the second group......

The "Pretend" Bama fans that I know fit this mold. Also, I know 3 Florida fans that started their fandom in the 90's.

You'll find bama fans in every state across the south. It's a national brand and successful right now.

Same people would be Miami fans or USC fans. I see them all over the south, sometimes it's just a hat or sticker. I don't let it bother me unless they talk shite.

Hell, I had a north carolina hat when I was 17 because I liked the colors.

They all suck cock.

Majority of them couldn't even name 3 players on their team.
Sure as hell didn't go to college.

Johnny come lately college football fans that happen to live in la that think it's cool to root for Alabama.

As far as it being white trash that's not 100% true.
I see more black Alabama fans in Louisiana than I do LSU.
Cars/hats/shirts.

Like some people have said, I'm going to go with with ULL fans. Moved here last year for grad school, and have seen and heard nothing but complaining and bitching about LSU this and that.

It's honestly quite sad.

Case in point, over the past few weeks I've had two acquaintances go to LSU parties. They did not cheer for the Tigers and made remarks about the other team beating LSU this and that, etc... Yet they come back and bitch about LSU hostility on FB and whoever will listen, about how people were mean to them at the party because they were "neutral" and didn't care.

I have never encountered such butt hurt in my life than in this town.

A friend's husband is a fan of Bama, Duke, the Yankees, Lakers, and the Cowboys. When he talks sports, I want to choke him.

They litter the landscape here in Cenla as well. Most of them are miserable, life hating bastards who have never even sniffed a college campus.

I've always assumed that these people are just part of the stream of refugees trying to escape Alabama and find a better life elsewhere...
