Isn't Monroe closer to Tuscaloosa than it is BR?

SHHH! You're ruining one the favorite regurgitated lines on the rant. I spent 2 years living in Lafayette yet I see more Alabama shite stuck to cars on a day to day basis in Shreveport than I ever did in Lafayette. Must be all those jealous LSU-S fans. They desperately want to drop the -S and be LSU.

Way back in my day where I'm from in way-down-SW-Louisiana, I saw some folks lean to aTm (cross-pollinated or transplanted Texans).

Heck, back then in those parts we even used to pick up the Grant Teaff show broadcast out of Waco so I even remember some died-in-the-wool Southern Baptists rooting for Baylor.

I guess I can see some northwest Louisiana folks having a rooting interest in ARKY. I guess I can see some eastern-border folks having an interest in the MS schools (Ole Piss, for God's sake!).

But I never, never, never in all my born days could have or would have imagined even a minuscule subset of Louisiana natives publicly declaring any kind of allegiance to the red team - that would have been and is just plain blasphemy.

Sir in all due respect Mr La Gator fan you define what we are talking about. IMHO if you are born and bred in La., there is no reason to cheer for another team over LSU, especially an SEC team. In my narrow minded homeristic view if anyone from Louisiana supports another team over LSU, to h()) with them! Nothing personal, just speaking in general terms.

As much as I would like to say it is a white trash thing, I have seen a boatload of students in west St. Tammany sporting tide gear...both public and private. Even though the vast majority of these kids are in families that could easily afford out of state tuition, I bet no more than 10% actually head to Tuscaloosa.

I call them Walmart fans. The closest they have ever been to BD stadium is the t shirt section of Walmart.

I had friends of mine who are from bama and they are die hard tide fans. I asked them once, so how many times have you seen them play? Never, really?

I have been to BD Stadium 3 times and I wasn't even going to see the tide. I don't know how many times I have seen them play in Tiger Stadium...

Can't stand a fair weather fan... And that goes for Tiger fans, too.

I loved 'em when they couldn't crack the top 20. LOVE my Tigers... Always have... Always will.

This is typical with teams who play really well, see the Yankees, Patriots, Lakers, Heat etc.

People are drawn to success personally I hate it when people from a state in another part of the country, have no affiliation and are fans of the above team.

You can pull for whatever team you want. But personally, I Love LSU and have since as far as my memory allows. True Tiger fans experience & know the essence of what it is to be an LSU supporter. You either feel it or you don't. It transcends the game. It's part of your psyche. I don't give a shite who pulls against LSU because they don't know that feeling. It's their loss. Love Purple, Live Gold! Forever LSU!

I live in West Monroe & there is no way you will see as many Bama shirts (or caps) as LSU. I would say it's 10:1 LSU.

Disagree about the Heat. Even with Lebron there they didn't draw that many national fans. Lakers for sure are the Yankees of the NBA.
