What is the law in carrying a gun in a bar or liquor serving establishment?

The NOPD geniuses had DUI checkpoint setup last night Tchoup/Calliope at that exact time.
Infuriates me every time I see this. 10-15 cops for 6-7 hours trolling for one or two DUIs & old brake tags. While violent crime is lurking around every other corner.
Saddens me that our police are so misdirected. It's a Thursday for fricks sake, in August, one of the slowest times of the year for drunk patrons.

Thats why they did it at that time. Checkpoints are evidently required..... They certainly wouldnt do a checkpoint during Mardi Gras or Jazzfest... That woukd deter tourism.
Fwiw Jared, I agree with you

+1, and the criminals know when to take advantage. With as undermanned as NOPD is there's no reason to have that many cops tied up like that.

How did they even get in the door? At 11pm? Wearing hooded sweatshirts? That door should have been locked at 10.

The restaurant was still open and customers were still in there. This city needs to be flooded with cops. Hire them now and we will figure out a way to pay them. This should be priority #1 in our budget. I feel safe in New York because there are cops everywhere you look.

They probably could have pulled it off at 8pm.
This isn't a problem of the restaurant and how it operates.

That is so crazy. I was thinking about going to grab a late bite over there. But my girlfriend wanted hoshun.

Heard Mitch went to dinner there tonight.

I read that the Tales of the Cocktail folks wrote a check for $1,000 to the restaurant for the staff to split for having their tips, etc stolen.
I would imagine the place will be getting a lot of love for a little while.

that whole neighborhood has gotten much weirder in the last 6-12 months.

More walk throughs.
Just a general declining vibe.
Newer neighbors seem more hostile and less invested in their properties.
I have an aging relative in the neighborhood, who has been there forever, so it's more of a long term thing that I'm noticing.
It feels like a less secure place overall. Can't really explain it but it feels odder.
I mean, I wouldn't have predicted a robbery at that place, but when I saw the news it didn't exactly surprise me.
And I should add that I'm in central city almost every day, so I know the range of things to pay attention to in New Orleans.
Still weird though.

Do you want the truth? (allegedly)
My two cents (that's not worth a thing in reality)
Mostly likely bc the perps were white.

They probably looked very similar to the patrons inside.

First of all this is New Orleans not Jackson. We don't close down restaurants at 10 pm grandma. Second, Patois is a pretty popular spot and the bar is well attended. People like to go there and stay fairly late.

Minor Update.
Suspects are 3 unknown black males. They found a car in the Milan neighborhood suspected of being the getaway car.

I guess smaller publications haven't gotten the memo that it is racist to call out the race of the perps.

I can understand if some transplants are moving to the area but the properties around there are pretty damn expensive so they shouldn't have riff raff moving in nearby.

Patois will be packed for the next several weeks.
In all fairness, I know Leon. Not well, but I do know him. My wife and I went on our first there.
My FB and etc are filled with people saying they made reservations and are planning to pack the place to show there support. My wife and I made reservations for our anniversary.
